Best snow tires for the Cobra?

Those of you on the mid-atlantic coast can join me here.

I'm sitting here on the couch. It is 12 degrees, heavy snow. Predicting nearly 2 feet of snow by time it is all over.

It's raining in Daytona, so the 500 is stopped.

The wife hurt her back, so she's just lying around.

Damn company Jeep is only 2 wheel drive.

So, what's the best snow tires to put on a Cobra? Anyone tried those monster studded tires? :JEKYLHYDE :D

Good grief, someone help us out here.

So what do you think about insurance companies? How about those lawyers? Big block or small block?

4:30pm, hasn't started up here yet but snow blower is full up and ready to go.

klayfish 02-16-2003 02:36 PM

That ain't good, Roscoe. You're only about 100 miles or so north of me. It started snowing here around 9:00 am. We have about 4-5" on the ground right now. If it hasn't gotten to you yet, that is one SLOW storm. Yikes.

Snow blower? Do you mean your sidepipes? :D I'm actually going to try to use my ShopVac to literally blow the snow. Hey, why not?

RACER X #99 02-16-2003 02:36 PM

Steve, for snow plowing I have changed my alliance to the Big Block turbo diesel in my 4X4 F250. Not very fast but lots of torque and I have heard that torque is the most important aspect of a V-8.
4:40 in central NJ and snowing heavy.
Back to you Roscoe.

4:45 in CT. Nothing yet but I know it is on the way. Spent the last hour moving snow with my tractor so I have room to pile the new snow.

They don't race in the rain?

That would make things much more interesting...

I mean jeez three weeks of temperatures in the teens, high winds,
and now a ton of snow. I guess the Cobra building gods are mad at me. Tried to work out in the garage yesterday but only stayed
for an hour then I had to go in and thaw out my hands. I will never ***** about hot muggy weather again. Where the hell is this global warming when we need it? Huh?

mrmustang 02-16-2003 04:28 PM

Blizzaks are best for the Cobra...Or so "Da Bunnies" have told me..........6:30pm here in WML, snow has yet to fall, but like Roscoe, the snowblower is gassed up and waiting.........If you have a leaf blower (backpack style), this too can be used for two-three inches at a time.......

The Cobra is a street legal race car. NASCAR will not even race in the rain, much less the snow. I would settle on knowing the best rain tires for a Cobra. Then we would be able to beat the NASCAR cars in the rain. They would be stopped and we would be cruising along.

Ron61 02-16-2003 04:57 PM

Wow,

It is 55 and raining some here in Northern Calif. I saw the TV pictures of the snow in the East. I almost feel sorry for you guys. At least we don't have to have a snow blower on stand-by and I don't think I could stand that cold any more. As for the race, isn't it amazing that it can take cars that go 185 MPH 6 hours to run 265 miles. And I thought I drove slow.

Ron  :3DSMILE: :D

Excaliber 02-16-2003 05:17 PM

.....whats snow?

Ernie

klayfish 02-16-2003 06:03 PM

OK, thanks Excalibur. Why don't you go build a sandcastle. :D :D   (just kidding). I guess it never gets below 60 there, huh?

We just went out to get out of the house. The drifts are getting pretty high. Snow so far is about 9", but still coming down.

I was told by many that my Firestone Firehawk SZ 50EPs are great bad weather tires. I'd like to try it, but my driveway is on a hill. I'm afraid if I take the Cobra out of the garage, I'll never get it back in.

Klayfish, Ernie.......

Klayfish,
Refer over to my "all-call" to Hal a Jamo, re winterizing my otherwise god-like bawdy...don't knock skate-sailing (in high winds) until you've broken something!:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE
Ernie,
Out there, "snow" is a little different. Like a Lamborghini is a "snowmobile" in My-Yammie! Okay, I've got the ex-JAmo Rippin' Red Road-Rocket in a makeshift garage. Cape Cod's weather is no better than DC's. The wifey took .008 of a decent ride---commenced b*tchin' about the noise, the arrest-potential, the freakin' neighbors (all of whom are genetic miracles---i.e. they're still alive!?)...so-o-o-o NOW how's the (new) pool house? I'll be out momentarily!  :JEKYLHYDE  :D

Up here just outside Montreal, it has been an interesting winter. Quite warm until early January but very cold for the past 5 weeks. Virtually no snow however. We only have 5" to 10" on the ground which is weel below normal for this time of year. Storm after storm has come up the east coast this winter but every one so far has turned east and missed us.

If you think you have it bad, what about Newfoundland where they have received something like 12 feet of snow so far this winter.

Reporting from Connecticut:

Looking out my window at the Housatonic River, which is about 800 feet wide at low tide it is 95% iced over. Have never seen that. The tide is coming in, and up the sea wall, waiting to see if it crests the wall with this storm. Has not crested the wall in any storm since I have lived here. Doubt it will this time. It did not crest the wall during the huge Nor'easter of several years ago. (The storm that the book Perfect Storm is based on)

Very exciting nonetheless. I have my snowmobile ready (Dodge Ram 4x4) in case the wife decides to have the baby early. Now THAT would be exciting! :D  %/

Art Burtt 02-17-2003 09:24 AM

Has anyone ever mounted a Meyers snow plow unit to a their Cobra,we getting hammered with 2-3 ft. of the white stuff and I just figured maybe I'd put some of this torque to work, sure beats shoveling!!
