3000HP and street registered!
There's no substitute for cubic inches. Especially when you have 1630 of them and a blower to boot.
This is Rod Hadfields Rolls Royce Merlin powered 55 Chev. The car is awesome and is officialy the worlds most powerful street registered car. I snapped a few pics of it at it's debut at the Victorian Hot Rod Show. Pictures don't do it justice! The engineering in this thing is beyond belief. I've been to Rod's work shop quite a few times. He's not to far from my house. The stuff he does is pretty off the wall. How about a twin 671 supercharged injected Ford shotgun in a Ford T Coupe (street registered too). Will a standard Cobra scoop be ok, or do I have to modify it?

Probably better to leave the hood off so you can attach the forementioned drop tanks. By the way, when are you going to have your's going so we can come down and see it or you can drive it up here ? The car is ready. Has been for some time. I am taking things off, re installing. Replacing wiring, just because. I am waiting for the engine. That's all that is left at this stage. I am hoping maybe before the end of March I can have this thing driving around. That reminds me... I better start the registration process going. Lake Shasta should make a great background even if I was driving a Cavalier. TURK |
Spent every august growing up down at Stan Sayers pits listening to those Rolls/merlins and Allisons rip around lake washington in the hydros.
Probably a lot of you know they ran them with 4" individual exhaust pipes, hearing one of those babies light up will give you chills and goose bumps for ten minutes, Makes a 427 sound like a lawn mower |

You are much farther along than I realized. Congratulations. Just what are you having done to the engine ? And when you go through the registration process would you please let me know exactly what receipts, papers, & etc. you have to have and how you went about it ? I am guessing that you are going to register it using the SB-100 bill. Thanks, Ron |

Since I sold my previous engine, your question as to what I am "having done to the engine" is not applicable. NOTHING. This is a new engine being built. 427SO-MR-Tunnel Wedge Intake-Steel Crank-10:1 Compression-dual 4V and a TKO II. Nothing spectacular. Hopefully a reliable cruiser with a little pep to it. It is being built almost exclusively with NOS parts except for the Intake, which was a EBay acquisition in excellent condition. Everything else is brand new. It will be as if it was built back in the 60's with the added advantage of todays pistons/rings/cam technology and the electronic ignition we have been so spoiled with. The rear end is a 3:54 , but the 5 speed TKO should smooth that out a little for a more reasonable milage. We'll see. I was spoiled with the other motor at 14.5 mpg with dual 4Vs. TURK |

I didn't realize that you had sold your previous motor. This one should be a really great one . With those gears you will need a bag of sand in the trunk for traction but it should be a blast to drive. Ron |

Not to hijack the thread away from Turks build travails, but just a mention of several other aircraft engined monsters (and no pictures to prove anything). There was a guy back in the 60's who built several cars with Allison v-16's, including an Isetta. It was very common in the 20's to use a/c motors in speed record cars like the Railton (a Brit) etc. Jay Leno has a Hispano-Suiza powered special he runs on the street occasionally. And the classiest one is an un-named fellow on the east coast with a RR Merlin powered Rolls Royce. It was at the Louis Vuiton Concours in downtown Manhatton. Fired up the straight piped beast every so often to please the crowd.
