I must have ordered mine before you. I requested the 60 part of the vin#. Yours should be here anyday.
And yes, I have a glove box also.
Need one for the suntan lotion.

My car is not completed yet. But have ordered most parts to have it drivable by late summer. I ordered a flat dash with leather covering. No glove box, live in Iowa, need a place for heater/defroster unit. Will probably make storage for essentials behind seats and in trunk.

Hi Ed

Thank you for the kind words. The toogle switches are for headlights, wipers, interior lights, fan override, fog lights, and a shut off hooked in series with a hidden switch to shut off the power to the fuel pump (anti-theft precaution) this switch is labelled as "aux" (short for auxilary). The pull knob is the manual choke for the Holley 750.

Agree that is a VERY NICE layout. Do they light up at night? If so, where did you get them?

A buddy suggested marine toggles that light up at night, but was curious...

Yes, I have a glove box.
I keep my 45 loaded in it, when I go cruising

Yes, I have a glove box in my car. I'm not sure what is in it since I haven't driven it since October, something to do with snow.

Anybody notice that not one single person has gloves in their "glove" box?

Thanks for the compliment. No the switches do not light up at night. They are the standard Lucas type black paddle toogle switches. I picked them up in Carlisle at the Kit Car Show one year.

Thanks for the reply. Was interested since I am redoing my layout and saw many switches.

"The Excal was about 4 inches wider than "standard", don't know for sure about the C.R."

My parking break is right behind the shifter and both of these take up all the space on top of the tunnel cover. You do have me thinking though where to put a good cup holder. I am redoing the dash so there are options.

I put a cup holder (two recessed holes) on the inside of the glove box door. When the door is down it remains in a flat (horizontal) position so it makes a nice platform to hold cups.

Re: Does your Cobra have a glove box?

I have a glove box with spare fuses, telephone number of mechanics (in case of emergency but I never needed it yet), sunglasses for the passenger , portable telephone and a Swiss multitools knife (like a Leatherman). Ashtray (no smoking allowed) contains ear plugs and some money. Side pockets of the doors contains maps and extra sunglasses for myself. My papers and my car's papers are in my own wallet attached to my pant's belt. Behind my seat: a kleenex box and some spray for the windshield plus a bottle of mineral drinking water. In my trunk: warm jackets, ski suits, rainproff jackets ,head caps; my Sparko kit (shoes, gloves, suit and my helmet) plus touristic guides , 1 liter of oil, Brake fluid, cooling fluid , water wetter. Some basic tools, cables for battery (never needed), tire gauge, tire inflater. And a Garfield small traveling bag containing bathing suits, extra shirt and shorts plus basic equipment for my husband and I( toothbrushes, razor, basic first aid kit etc ) Plus, of course, a digital camera, pencils, and some pictures of my car often asked by people I meet. With these equipments, I can go almost anywhere with the Cobra without thinking about what I must bring to the car before going for a touristic ride lasting many days.

And if you DO have a glove box, what do you keep in it? (besides the breath mints!!!) Registration, proof of insurance, pen or pencil and a small pad, maybe a disposable camera? Maybe a tire gauge, some Wet-Naps, AAA Card, spare fuses, a Leatherman? And if you DONT have a glove box, where do you keep the registration, proof of insurance, etc?

Some guys go flat out. Two dashes, one with a glove box and one without. I wonder who could do such a thing?

aumoore 04-11-2003 07:28 AM

I keep a medium size zip up bag in the trunk. It holds the registration, insurance info, small flashlight, neat zip up tool kit from sears, a few wrenches and a tire gauge. That is about all the trunk is good for in these things. If the weather looks bad I might throw a car cover in the trunk also.

No guesses as to which CC member has a dash with a glove box and a dash without a glove box?

Wayne

petek 04-13-2003 07:46 PM

Turk said he had two dashes.

I'm wondering why two complete set of gauges. Some quick disconnects and you could use one set of gauges for both dashes. Heck, even with non-electric gauges I would think that the work swapping the gauges would pale in comparison to the work swapping the dashes!
