Mystery- Water condensing in cockpit?

Twice now I have test driven my car in light rain to test handling on wet roads and water has pooled in my floorboards. It was not raining enough to even need my wipers but the amount of water collected on the floorboards was unbelievable. It was in period of very high humidity about to rain but not raining. I have not yet installed my carpets or pads so I am thinking of some watercondensaton phenomena occured with the bare fiberglass floorboards and the humid, wet air. IN both cases the temperature was about 60 F. Any science buffs out there???

My worry is could this hapen once my carpet and pads are installed

Condensation occurs when water vapor cools. What was the temperature of your car before you took it out for a drive? Was it parked where the temperture was lower than the outside air temp of 60 F? If not, I don't have the answer.

St thomas, one thing to check is the door seals...a fair amount of water will come in through the lower rear corner (near your hip), from air pressure forcing in mist kicked up by the tires, particularly with the 427 S/C body style. I wouldn't think condensation would account for pooling of water, but it could likely generate a fairly damp surface under the right (wrong?) conditions.
