Speedometer-Mech. or Programmable???
I am getting ready to purchase a gauge package for my Cobra from Auto Meter and and I am undecided about going with a mechanical or a electronic programmable speedometer. Any pros or cons on either one. Thinking of using the Phantom or Ultra Lite
gauges.

I am using the Autometer Phantom gauges in my Cobra and really, really like them! Visibility is best I have ever seen, day or night. I would think about the Programmable speedometer because in my case, I can't get a speedometer driven gear with enough teeth to correct it (12% off).

Get the electronic programmable speedo. Easy to set, and, if you ever change gears or tires, it's a snap to reprogram. I had to fine tune my VDO speedo, seems like it wasn't quite right using the measured mile on the interstate. Still, much easier than the mechanical type.

Agree with the above. I have the VDO programable one and have had it in sicne 1996. I have ran it through the radar at 50, 60, 70, and 80 MPH and it was right on every time. Very easy to change if you decide to change gears or tires. And as Chris said, they can be fine tuned.
