WT ,

Where did you take the pics ?

Wayne,
Sticking stickers on those show cars don't make them track cars.
They look pretty slow to me. Are you guys waxers?

I heard that you are still trying to get that sled go get below the 13 seec.mark. Is that true?

Kobra Karl- Actually they were taken by Greg Dunn from Michigan. Greg is a great photographer and super guy. He took them at Gateway International in St. Louis last year during R & G in the garage area.

Turk- Yes you are right we are all waxers as wind tunnel tests have shown us that the benefit of wax is much better than windex, unless of course you happen to be Greek. You left out a couple of numbers, we are trying to get below 10.13 with our sleds with out any power adders, just like the original FEs and with IRS and manual transmissions, although we have been been using mallory metal in setting up our suspensions depending on the track, and of course we wax it also for better weight transfer. Rich even waxes his shifting nob for better shifting and of course Bob Self at age 69 waxes everything because he likes the smell of hot or burning wax, and claims it makes a terrific sealer, especially on his aluminum Shelby block, and enhances his radio reception.

Funny how time changes things but they stay the same. About 10 or 15 years ago red was the hot shoe with Cobras. Dark blue with white stripes seems to be vogue now. Regardless of the color, I really like to see those older builds. Makes me wonder out loud where we will be with these cars 15 years from now with the influx of the less expensive kits that abound now.

Ron- The 88 car of Bob Self's is 17 or 18 years old and has been driven hard on tracks all over the country since it was first built. Bob also has a 53 Vette, 32 Deuce Coupe, Diesel Drag truck, Vipers and several other European cars. For a guy 69 years old with heart problems he is amazing, and a real character.

You ain't going to get out of this thing alive, so what counts is how you live the time you've got. Sounds like my kind of a guy.
BTW - For about a year now I've had a standing offer to a guy here in Moorsville with a red chebby big block powered Contempory. Told him he could keep the motor and tranny. If I can't steal it away from him soon it looks like I'm going to have to build a FF5 car later this summer for a streetcar. Later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
