Any suggestions on a good retro color?
I'm considering a non-metallic paint color for my ERA 427. The car will NOT have twin center stripes, but will have painted on white meatballs for numbers, and maybe a pair of rookie stripes on the driver's side. I would like to do something a little different, and I like the retro colors -- british racing green, grey, olive green, etc. Anybody have any suggestions, or seen a subdued retro color that looks good on a Cobra? I'm thinking of something that will look industrial and no nonsense, something that a privateer racer might have used in the sixties. Any thoughts?

Let's see...."non-metallic, no stripes, painted meatballs, team stripes on fender, subdued retro, industrial-looking"
...sounds like you just described CSX2032. The only other approach to a vintage privateer- racing look is Viking Blue or Yellow. |
My previous Cobra was painted in Jaguar Racing Green which in my view made it look very traditional. Have uploaded a picture to my gallery. Click on the photo icon to view.

NSXDriver,
A place to look for ideas is: http://www.autocolorlibrary.com They have the PPG/Ditzler color sheet images all the back to the 40s. Here is the 1965 Ford sheet: http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/...-ford-pg01.jpg Best of Luck, Jim |
