58mm Webers on 482 Shelby block

Craig Marsh, Rodney and Mike....I finally posted some pictures of my 58mmWebers per your request. You can find 2 photos on page 2 of the "Has anyone spoken to David Salkowski"? post. I also have them in my gallery. I would have posted them here but I am still having problems uploading the photos. Thankfully... Jeff Burgy was able to post them to the other thread for me. David

David, congratulations !!! This engine looks great. Never seen 58mm Webers before. I'm currently installing a new 48IDA setup on my 347stroker. Regards, Walter

DavE:

Those look like Berg 58mm IDAs. Clue us in. If they are, they are great carbs.

58mm Webers are extremely rare. Back before the internet, yep, I'm that old, I bought a 58mm Weber intake for a 427 FE from someone advertising it on the SAAC mag. Could not find the carbs back then. I was told that fewer than a dozen were made. Does anyone kniow if this is true?

I ended up trading it for a new 48mm Cobra lettered Weber intake to Ron Miller of Ford Power Parts. I think he was in Covinas, California.
Later sent to Jim Ingliese and he put the whole intake setup together. Looked and ran great! Carb bodies were black anodized and all screws and bolts were chromed. I had it in a '67 GT500 (#258 for those w/ a registry) with a 427s.o. medium riser and when I raised the hood at a car show, it looked like flies on dog sh!t time.

Nothing looks better then a Weber system on a Cobra.*
Nothing!

Bob

* As long as it's a Ford engine.

I think I have read somewhere that David has one of those exceedingly rare sets -- and not the Bergs. David -- what's the real story?
