Actrive Topics List
I have a thread that I posted a few days ago "US Going to War: Support the Troops" in the Club Cobra Lounge. It never shows up on my active topics list on the home page. It is active because some people have responded to it. It shows up on the "get new" list.
What is going on? Why does it not show up on the active topic list on the home page? Are some topics excluded? If so which and why? |
Small changes...
The Active Topics list has been modified to exclude posts made in the Lounge.
|
Thanks. The topic is not Cobra related so I put it in the lounge, but I wanted to express my sentiment to a wider audience. Next time I will know.

.........looks like the Liberals won that battle. I guess they no longer have to "put up with" seeing political topics on the "active topic" lists. Funny, the last time I checked that thread that Roscoe started where people voted on keeping political topics a part of CC, it was almost 70% in FAVOR of it staying! As usual, the whiners rule, and the majority doesn't.

C'mon now, this is a car site first, and with that in mind, I decided I would prefer that the Cobra topics get most of the attention. Does that mean you can't speak your mind? NO. So the argument about 70% of the club wanting to keep political topics doesn't hold.
When you read the wall street journal, do you see front page sports articles? Not typically. |
I just thought Roscoe was on vacation or his computer broke;) I guess I have to check the lounge . . .
|
Brent: Car site first, no doubt about that......and MOST of the threads that pop up on the "active topic list" are about just that - cars. Hey, that's why I came here in the first place! Are you trying to say that Cobra's weren't getting most of the attention on this site when "other" topics were being placed on the active list? Please. There was nothing wrong with other topics being on that list - especially if they were "active". It's easy to close a thread if you open one and decide it wasn't what you thought it was, or simply just weren't interested after you read more of the topic. Heck, you don't even have to open the thread at all if you decide, from the info given about the topic, it's not one you want to read. Just move on to something that interests you and leave that thread to others.
Do I see sports on the front page of the Wall Street Journal very often? No. .....Not unless something BIG happened in sports the day before. Should politics / other topics end up on the front page of CC's active topic list? Not for me to say..........but when something BIG happens, or is about to happen in our world (like WAR!), perhaps it should be. Brent - you are the man, your site. This is JMHO. My reason for making CC my #1 Cobra site wasn't because of the political discussions. It just seems to be a pretty BIG deal today and with so many people here with so many back grounds, it's nice to hear whats on their minds. |
I think it's a great idea to keep the lounge off the main page. It's easy enough to get there and I LIKE the lounge. But it does get a little overwhelming with a lot of ploitical this and that. It takes away from the main purpose of this sight, which is Cobras, and yet we still have it to throw things at each other.
Well done Brent. Ernie |
I too fell keeping the lounge off the main topics page is a good idea. It seemed to me that every time I logged in there was more and more stuff not related to cars showing up. I can esaily browse the lounge to see if there is anything I am interested in.
Ron :) :) :) |
Another fine choice by the moderator/s. While I do go to the lounge regularly, I was sick of seeing political topics in the Active List. I was thinking how nice it would be to remove the Lounge from the list, et voila!!!
(Oops, am I allowed to say "voila" around here  ) |
Agreed.
