You really CAN believe Csaba Csere.
Of all the people listed he is the one I would have the most confidence in stating things as they "really" were.

If it was clear to him that C.S. "intentions" and "inferences" were to have people believe these frames were IN FACT from 1965 then I belive THAT is exactly how it went down.

"Credible deniability" I think is what the White House calls it when they "lie". Shelby, if nothing else, is the absolute MASTER of credible deniability. His snake oil cup runneth over. He is the PT Barnum of the auto sales world.

Makes me chuckle actually, lol, talk about teflon coated! Once again, he has shown himself to be a man ahead of his time!!! No way you would convict him in court of any wrong doing.

It's the difference between making an "accurate" but not "true" statement of the facts.

Did he build the best damn car in the world or what? I think so!

Evan:

OJ said he didn't do it also so I guess he didn't do it. Don't expect your uncle to come out with the truth anytime soon.

DougD:

Sorry, I didn't see that post. As usual, it looks like Evan is all by himself, he is right, and the rest of the world is wrong.

Without conceding anything (I hate to concede anything) let me just stipulate that if the information posted is considered true the preponderence of the evidence would seem to weigh in favor of the anti Shelby crowd.

There. Thats the most you will get from me. :p

Putting all this aside this is old news and has been hashed and rehashed.

On balance he has contributed more good than well..that other stuff.

:D

Evan:

I stand corrected, I never thought I would hear that coming from you. Congratulations, you won't hear anything more from me, at least not on this go around. I also will not bring you into this the next time it comes up.

Now I better copy this into my archives just in case. :3DSMILE::D:3DSMILE:

I have a question, did the "honest" Carroll Shelby (or any member of his company...) ever tell any of the 427 Cobra buyers that they were actually getting a 428c.i. engine, instead of the Famous 427 S.O. engine? If the answer is "no", can anyone ever remember in the history of automobile's if any company ever stated a vehicle had a certain engine, but they subbed it with a different engine?

Bandit 1

Heck yeah!!! Thats an easy one! Pontiac and Oldmobubbles were running Chevy engines and not saying a word about it! HUGE law suit over that. GM was looking real bad for awhile, but they got over it. And today? Well theres just no telling WHAT might be under the hood of any given model.

See how far ahead of his time Carrol was? The man was a genius I'm telling you! LOL

Yes. On another thread, I posted the 1967 brochure copy that indicated the 428 engine was supplied.

Bandit1 On the motor game, in 79 Pontiac used 403 Olds motors in there Trams ams. They where caught and gave a 700.00$ credit or rebate for the misinformation. Shebly did the same thing in the end of the Cobra run. He put 428CJ in and said they where 427SO motors. I believe that Ford stop maken the blocks for a while. No other Ford product was using a 427. On the outside, the FE motor is not like AMC,DODGE,or Chevy with cubic numbers on the block or head. Shelby was willing to put a 427 in the car if the owner b$thched. I don't know where the replacement motors came from. This is why GM now has Corporate motors not chevy, olds, or pontiac. Lawyer made some NICE money on this one. ;) :) Rick Lake

I heard that Shelby did it because the 428's were far cheaper.

Excaliber 03-30-2003 11:06 AM

That was the reason Bart. I bet in the begining he was not "that forth coming" with the engine being a 428 instead of a 427. My guess is the "ad" stating it came with a 428 came out AFTER some pressure to get "the facts straight" and AFTER he had to change out a few engines for customers who THOUGHT they had a 427.

But I could be wrong. Perhaps C.S. was right up front and told everyone right away???? Uh huh, and pigs fly, lol.
