tire pressures???
need info on tire pressures BFG TA's Unique FIA
351 W
Checked them today after long winter and found variables in pressures.... 15 to 22lbs.
Any input????

Input? Sure: it looks like there is quite a range of air pressure in your tires. Some have more air than others.

I'd say fill 'em up, and check 'em in a week.

I'm running 295/50/15 in the rear with 24# in them. and 255/50/15 in the front with 22#. (Cold pressure) Great traction and driveability. At 24# all around, the front end was alittle loose. Dropping pressure in the fronts made a big differnce when accelerating. Not enough miles to tell about tire wear.

It seems air pressure is like oil viscosities, most feel higher is better. Too much air reduces your footprint (and traction) and increases the spring rate of the tire. These are light cars on big tires. I run 20psi (cold) all around in my SPF with no problems (245/60-15 front, 275/60-15 rear). I would increase the pressure for track events but not for long trips.

I agree with Jhein. I run 23lbs all around in my B&B with a 351w & Live Axle. Tires stick to road much better and the ride is much smoother at a lower pressure, especially with a live axle. -David

My Snake gets too "twitchy" when making hard turns right and left if I lower the air pressure. Maybe the sidewalls are more flexible?

Hmmm... this is interesting. I was running 20 lbs front and back in my tires (295/50-15 rear, 255/60-15 front) and the car seemed not to track well (loose). Been running 30 lbs front and back and the car tightened right up, much better handling, turns in a lot quicker.

Pete, me thinks you discovered the same thing that I did. Low pressure in my tires didn't help in tracking through turns!!

Just to clarify, lower pressure certainly gives me a more comfortable ride when cruising around town and my rear tires stick better in a straight shot drag situation. When talking about handeling abilities, I agree with Ham Todd and Petek that higher pressure is certainly the way to go. I used to SCCA Autocross in a heavy Mustang with my tires filled up to over 40lbs. I think it is best to adjust your tire pressure to the situation. I hope this helps.
