Hella Horns
I just received a set of Hella horns from Finish Line and I am curious as to how and where any SPF owners have mounted theirs.
Thanks, TL  |
Not a SPF but....
... seems to me the orginals where mounted facing forward towards the passenger side on the front suspension cross member. 'Hooter' button was mounted just below and to the right of the speedo.
Any one ever find a button that said 'hooter' on it. Love to have one. Maybe I can have the lettering added? Rick |
Yo..Terry...
..I mounted one using the original horn mounting method...just removed the original 'weenie' horn and mounted the new one using the same bolt on the driver's side. Mounted the other one on the passenger side, using the same bolt (symetrically speaking, if you will). Fabricated a couple of wires to run from
the terminals of the driver's side horn to the passenger side horn and ran them under the front of the car, up under the aluminum lip of the oil cooler surround. Wiring looks like it came from the factory that way and is all tucked up and out of the way. Both horns face foward...seems to work well, so far. Hope this helps.... |
FF,
Our buddy Doug Reed told me about the "weenie horn" location. Your description seems to match my assessment of the situation. Looks like I'll have to get under this thing to play mechanic / electrican. I hope I won't get my hands dirty.  I'm heading towards Harbor Freight in the next few days, so I pick up one of those alum. floor jacks. I think with all my alum. purchases lately I'm going to change my middle name to "Alcoa." Geeeze, does that mean I'm thinking Kirkham?   I've got 500 miles on the SFP and it needs a bath, maybe time?  I wonder if the Kirkhams come with a "weenie horn." :p   :p Thanks for the help, TL :MECOOL: |
Yepper....you didn't think you were gonna get out of this WITHOUT dirty hands, did you? Man...you ARE a rookie, ain't cha? Seriously, it's easy enough and you shouldn't soil your dainties too much.
And if Doug Reed's your buddy...well, that ain't sayin' much for your buddies, now is it...? :p |
Freddie,
