reqular seatbelt ?'s
I am using a five point system on the drivers side, but I need to use a regular belt system on the passengers side.
Anyone one have any suggestions on what type of "regular" belt to use. Also mounting tips would be appreciated. |
Maybe a lap belt in the same style/color as your five-point? Why no five-point for the passenger?

Thanks for the reply. The passenger is not protected by the rollbar, so a five point is not a good idea.
Thanks again |
I am also in your dilemma. I also cannot fid a passenger side lap belt. Tried Simpson, Diest and a couple of others with no help on their web sights. If anyone can help please let me know also.

Call Stroud Safety in Oklahoma City.
I set up my Kirkham with a 5 point for the drivers side and a single lap belt for the passenger. Essentially the 5 point set-up less the shoulder harnesses, they are beautifully crafted, SFI rated, and Stroud is great to work with www.stroudsafety.com |
Ebray:
the supposition that 5 points are not good for a passenger with no roll bar is false. Granted in a roll over condition where the car collapses on the passenger side, 5 points belts could cause more harm than good. But, even with a roll over there is approx. a 50 % chance the car will pivot over the driver roll bar. In that case the 5 pt belts would benefit. The most important aspect is only 5% of accidents are roll overs; most are front crashes or skiding side crashes where a good belt system is life saving. The idea that ia passanger is better off without a good belt system is akin to the wifes tail that it is better to be thrown from a rolling car because it may catch fire; statistically just aint so. gn |
Niles,
Good point. However, I will be autocrossing the car and my chapter of the SCCA dictates that a five point system cannot be used unless the driver / passenger is protected by a rollbar that is two inches above the helmet. They also do not allow lap belt only systems. Thanks again for your input. |
Check Summit catalogue under "Hard Core Racing Parts": RCI lap and shoulder harness with 60's vintage style chrome buckle - comes in different color belts.
Or try the street rod suppliers for a lap belt only in a 60's vintage style. Greg |
