Venom 427
IS ANY INPUT ABOUT THIS CAR? OUT THERE,
|
I wouldn't bet the farm....
...but I think I was looking at one in an informal drive-in "auto show" at the Liberty Tree Mall, north of Boston last week-end. My pal said: "Look, there's the new Viper"---and I said that it was too low, wide and not as "finished" as a Chrysler product. The owner was nowhere to be seen, but a couple of admirers said that this car was being made in southern New Hampshire, had no soft (or hard) top option (yet) and a roller was c. $23,000. It could be it. Had a Kamm-type lip on the rear. You could walk up and step into it with no more trouble than getting into a bath-tub! As I said, it was a was just a drive-by show thing, mostly 'Vettes and hot-rods--no sales or info. booths. I may be wrong, but I think that (Venom) was what I was looking at. It was TRULY low and seemingly wide as all get-out. The New Hampshire build-site sounds strange, though. Not a likely venue---Sorry about the lack of info. Hope this helps.:D

Fred...it just sounds like you had a bad dream.
 http://www.team-c-racing.com/venom427.php |
actually...
I have found out that there IS a roadster being made in NH, but it's not a "Venom"---nonetheless a very wild looking car---and it was a short feature inKit Car a while ago. Sorry to have misled you, Kenny.
Hey, ALWAYS great to hear from YOU, Ron! (Just kiddin')   |
Try over at Cobra Forum. There are some Guys there that have these Cars.
They are pretty close to original Backdraft Racer. Bud |
I was rummaging through the latest (June) Kit Car magazine...and...
......there, before my eyes. on p. 12 (top) was an article on the afrementioned Venom (article is entitled "Venomous Snake"). However, as soon as I paged onwards, I found that low-slung thingamabobbie which I had confused with the Venom. In retrospect, I guess "Venom" was a non-COBRA name, and I guess I was therefore thinking non-cobra. In any case, there in black and white is the car I saw on the North Shore (of Massachusetts). It's called a "Dragon" and it appears on pp. 28, 46 and 71 (ad for shop in New Hampshire that makes them). Subsequently, I have seen a wild metallic green "Dragon" and talked to the owner. He says people mistake it for a Beck-built Lister all the time!:JEKYLHYDE
Sorry to have extended my confusion to innocents. Starboard-side battery is double-shotted and run out, in case I receive any broadsides from that other glacial moraine lying to the south of mine!  |
The Venom 427 is a Cobra SC replica built in Durban, South Africa by Performance Motorcars, Inc. It's offered as a turnkey minus and is being distibuted by Shell Valley and Team-C-Racing for around $29,000. Hope this helps.
