Turk,

Yeah, I got that you were just making a silly reply to emphatically let everyone know that you didn't want any of the money.

And I trusted that your sillyness continued through your entire post. I would certainly hope you weren't serious about the Iraqi Weapons Donation.

But why you would include such a comment is beyond me and I also didn't see any humor in that part of your post.

Maybe it's just me, since I have a good friend on a ship just south of Iraq, defending our right to be able to make silly comments.

Turk 04-01-2003 01:34 AM

Yes Neal,
Maybe it is Just you.

I also have friends deployed there.

Like I said it is Deja Vu all over again. I hear from you every year about the same time, same tone.

TURK
See you next year.

Neal Jackson 04-01-2003 01:50 AM

Well Turk,

You made the comment about sending money to Iraq for weapons development, not me, not anyone else here. Why is that?

If you don't like being called on such apparent thoughtless comments, maybe you shouldn't make them in the first place.

And this only pertains to what YOU posted. Has nothing to do with the time of year.

And it's the first time I've seen you post such wording, so there's no deja vu all over again, Yogi.

Usually I enjoy your humorous posts - not this time.

I hope your deployed friends also return home safe.

Turk 04-01-2003 02:02 AM

Thank you!

Can we now move on?

Best investment I've made in over 2 years!

Wish there was some way we could put a cash value on the benefit we all receive from your efforts, Brent. I hope in some small way our fund raising efforts to keep your server(s) up and running offsets your cost, time and effort, and are expressions of our gratitude. I think I can speak for us all when I say Thank You!

...and thanks for putting up with all our crap! We can dish out more sh!t than any group of people I've ever seen! And, although some of it may actually be meant to be hurtful, most of us are just expressing our opinions passionately. I don't always agree with opinions expressed on this site, but I do truly appreciate the forum and the chance to read others views and opinions.

...even if they are all full of sh!t... :D

Turk...Thanks once again for being the banker. See you both at DVSF.3...I'll be the one in the blue car with the white stripes! :3DSMILE:

Tom S,

If you think it's funny to joke about sending Iraq money to develop weapons, then laugh all you want.

I don't think it's funny.

Chics LI 04-01-2003 04:39 PM

Neal,
You need to get a grip. It was Turk's attempt at humor. How could anyone take it otherwise. I got a chuckle out of it as I would have thought everyone else would.
This is some frightful time for our country. Our guys are getting killed and maimed for what most of us believe is a just cause. If you saw that "big hole" 20 miles to the left of my home you would understand.
Everyone is a little tense and a little humor is a good thing. I have never met Turk but I hope to one day. I think he is a pretty cool guy even if he is a Gashole. ( How does one become a Gashole anyway? Maybe Ron can help me with this afterall, he helped me post pix in my gallery). I repeat , I was not offended by Turk and understood his wisecrack but perhaps not everyone did. You are entitled to say your piece as is anyone else.
Neal, have a good day and don't let it bug you too much. I am not trying to bust your chops, just trying to show my thoughts.

Tom S.

Chis

Your assement of the cituation is right on !!

As for Gashole membership, Turk has a list of all of the qualifications, but I can say that a "Genuine Sense of Humor"
is near the top !! Those who desire membership but lack the sense of humor are ameditally refered to club cranky.

I hope this clears up any misconseption about who does
and who does not posess a genuine sense of humor.

Tom S.,

I thought Turks Chineese Panda Collectors was funny.

Joking about sending money to Iraq for weapons development, just ain't funny to me. Simple as that - no biggie, no "grip" needed.

Have a good one,

Bo,

You don't know d1ck about Club Cranky.

Matter of fact, I am the court jester for that crew and put most people under the table with wet shorts.

I'm taking on all comers. Bring yer best.:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

southernfriedcj 04-01-2003 06:19 PM

I can't believe you guys trust a used car salesman with your money!;) ;) ;) Just kiddin', CIITM.
As for the parallel topic on this thread, I would say that the humor is found in the obsurdity. Kinda like when I renamed a friend and fellow firefighter "Hot Leg Holden" from "Hot Wing Holden"(he cooked wings at the station 3 meals a day). The funny part is I drew a picture of him on fire, and wrote his new name, on a chalk board. The really funny part is: it was in his room in the Georgia Baptist Burn Unit. He laughed his @ss off when he woke up from a 3 week morophine coma!
I guess you had to be there.

southernfriedcj 04-01-2003 06:21 PM

BTW, I will now post atleast 20 posts per day(up from 1.36). I've got to get my monies worth!:D

Neal Jackson 04-01-2003 06:26 PM

I'll try to make this my last on the subject:

What Turk says is usually funny and clever. He even admitted he was joking about that particular part of the post.

What I didn't think was funny was that he would make light about something like that in the first place. Especially now.

Bring on the Pandas and the contributions,

BO DUTCH 04-01-2003 08:07 PM

JM

Your absolutely correct !! There is not a dick to be found in club cranky !
As far as The court Jester, Mmmm.......... so your the cause !!
If I had to run around in wet pants under a table...... well, I guess I would be cranky too !!

**) **)

Gee John, This is fun, ain't it ?? As long as we use smilly faces !!

Chics LI 04-01-2003 08:09 PM

Bo,
I can say that I have been told that I have a "sick" sense of humor. Comes with the turf I guess "cop humor", sometimes you just have to be there to appreciate it.

Tom S.

BO DUTCH 04-01-2003 08:23 PM

Chics,

Right on !!
Me sick too !!

If you've been there and done that, it's easy to find humor in it with someone else who has been there and done that.
Some folks just don't understand how it works !

;)

excelguru 04-01-2003 08:36 PM

Turk - Another check is coming your way! This website has served as a bountiful (an cost-free) spring of knowledge into which I've tapped many times. It's certainly worth far more than my embarassingly small annual contribution.

It will go out with tomorrow's mail.

Keith :)
