Whew! At least the Civic didn't pass the Viper! That's one damn fast Civic.

A warning for those of you with dial-up, this movie file is 9.5 MB.

There are indeed some truly FAST Civics out there. Unfortunately, most of what we see are the boy racer versions with no more than a 6" exhaust tip and a 3' tall rear wing. I have several friends/coworkers here at Honda R&D in Ohio who are into the high HP Civics, and believe me, they make the numbers. At a recent dyno day, one made 496 hp at the wheels, with 26lbs. of boost. This, in a 2000# car! It's truly amazing the power some of those 4 cyl's. can produce. And yes, it costs lots of $$$ to make it!

It's a great era to be a car enthusiast!

I was into Integras and Civics from the mid-80's til 97 when I could afford an M3. They are incredible machines, and when done right, can be amazingly fast and nible. Too bad many muscle car drivers don't give them the respect they deserve. Then again, maybe that's good - I passed many a Mustang GT in my Integra as they stared on bewildered as a car that sounded like a lawnmower wizzed by them...

Since I purchased the Cobra I have been counting the days til some clapped out ten year old Civic embarrasses me - looks like this Viper guy has lived my nightmare.

Put 20# of intercooled boost into anything any it will make power, but for how long until it greneades itself? How much boost is 750hp putting into his windsor, not that much I am sure. Turbo buicks figured out what turbos do back in the 80's, I have seen full dress T-types run 9's with the full interior, power windows, no chop work to lighten them up 3400# curb weight. Didn't engineers get something like 1200 hp out of an olds quad-4 motor ? Back when I used to drag race those little hondas and take their money, I saw several grenade their motor, more destroy their transaxle, and none could hook up on the street because they are wrong wheel drive.(standing start dragrace, not this third gear only BS) They also spend more money to upgrade their little motors, than I did on my entire big block muslecar.

I don't care how fast those little tuners are, I'd rather have the Viper, or better yet my SPF.
