Aluminum 289 Survey
What would you pay for a Complete Painted 289 Aluminum Cobra Slabside with wire wheels, leather interior and a small block crate motor?
|
I woulda never thunk
That so few have voted.
Oh Well..... You can still vote. I am just curious to the answers. Please leave comments. |
Ok Steve ,what are you up to?
|
427 S/C is my first choice, then 427 Street, then FIA, then, lastly, the slabside. Just my two cents worth.
|
Edley's got it all wrong,
1 427 street 2 slabside 3 s/c 4 289 FIA :D |
I would rather not pay - as I dont have any money but I dunno - mabey $40K?
|
KobraKarl got me to thinking.... 1. 427 Street 2. 427 S/C 3. FIA 4. Slabside. Yep. That's how I like 'em!
|
Aluminum doesn't mean all that much to me.... If the glass and alum. cost the same I'd be hard pressed to make a choice...
The 427 street is a great looking car but for me the FIA edges it out.... Be proud to drive either.... |
The slabside really doesn't do much for me unless it has some racing flares, heavy rubber & #'s on the side.
|
Gee....
..I would gladly pay $79.95 but Wally-World will have it on sale for $39.87.....
Come'on guys....you know the basic real world price will be a factor here....somethin' about silk purses and sows ears.... These COULD be available for very little money, IF you can get skilled craftsmen to work for $4.61 per hour, someone else donates all the material and the investors are not entitled to any return on the investment! While I have posted that there is less time in the building of such as car as compared to what the sellers want you to believe, there is still a substantial amount of time and material that goes into a well constructed "Cobra". If it looks too good to be true....... Rick:JEKYLHYDE |
I just want everyone to know I did NOT put Steve up to this and I have NO IDEA what he is doing.
However...I do appreciate the info...stay tuned. David:D :D :D |
Hmmmmm%/ %/ %/ %/ %/
David, Call me.... ...The plot thickens.... |
...sounds like MEAT is behing this ;)
|
I'd pay upwards of $50K--but it should include full weather gear and a heater. I see Slabsides as usable everyday vehicles. A Morgan you can live with. Options should include a radio, luggage rack.
BRG, tan leathers please. If (when) Kirkham sells them, huge discounts should be given to previous customers. |

Oh assolutely. |
CSX 4027 / Steve,
I've wondered the same thing. The Slabside with wires is my favorite Cobra of all time. Set up mostly how you described, with a 5-speed too; maybe a small dual carb setup. I'm probably 1 out of 50 on this, but will eventually sell my ERA 427 to buy one of these. Don't get me wrong, I love my ERA, but the purist side of me says I will retire or pass on with a slabside wire-wheel car in my garage. I'd pay around 45K for a new, quality, well built slabside car. I will most likely seek a well built fiberglass body over an aluminum one in this range, if it's available 5-10 years from now when I'm done with my 427 SC. |
steve will you be creating a steve sunshine limited edition complete with signature and vin plate?
|
Dan
Since my middle name is "Craig"...
There will be a signed CS edition....  ***This was just one of those FYI threads. I don't think I will building anything real soon.:3DSMILE: |
Uh Oh.....
The plot is getting thicker.......
Stay tuned;) ;) |
