Wow. Hollywood is all over the Cobra lately. From Fastlane to Rollerball , they're turning up everywhere. However, a flick that has Cameron, Demi, AND a 427 Cobra might warrant a Saturday afternoon matinee. Hopefully, we'll get to see Cameron in the Cobra vs. Demi in the Ferrari Enzo in a street showdown right in front of the Chinese Theatre. Then they could wrestle....

In a recent article in Autoweek it mentioned that the folks filiming the Fast and the Furious II had decided not to use a Cobra in the film and sold it to Charlies Angels.

After wasting good money on the first F & F movie, I don't know which film is worse to see our beloved Cobra in. My question: why does the film industry continue to pump out crappy car films? Where are the likes of LeMans and Grand Prix ???

The sad point is, unless lt's a Honda or Toyota (like the "Fast And The Furious") the film makers ("Gone In 60 Seconds", "Fastlane", "John Doe", etc...) don't realize the reason most people are watching the show is THE CAR!

They always just show the cars pulling up or driving off. What would have happened if the original "Smokey And The Bandit" only had shots of the Trans Am pulling in and taking off? What would have happened if "The Dukes Of Hazzard" didn't have the 69 Charger (and Daisy Duke, but that's another thread...) in it?

In "Gone In 60 Seconds" they only show quick shots of most of the cars. When they do show the Shelby Mustang chase at the end, they have to destroy what little hope of saving the movie by having that "cheesy" car jump (when it makes "The Dukes Of Hazard" car jumps look "real", you know you have a problem).

It's just like the last "Mad MAX", they never realized the success in the early movies was THE CAR.

The sad thing is that they try to "Hollywoodize" the car shots and they make it look piss poor. Where have all of the awesome car chases and Steve Mcqueen's gone...
