New Cobra Value Thread 289 FIA
Ther is a Shelby Aluminum 289 FIA for sale this week in Autoweek. The Serial Number is CSX 7027. It looks like a beautiful car but, the asking is $125,000 and it states the car can be VINTAGE RACED. Anyone want to call this guy and find out what racing group will allow a new car to race with the old ones?

??
Is that a separate sanctioning body. I don't believe SVRA or HSR would allow them.

Steve, first off you are very very bored. Get your damn cup car and get up to the Glen with me asap.
Now about the historics. Not one Historic sanctioning body will allow a cobra replica to race. If it doesnt say CSX-3000 or 2000 you will not be allowed in.
The owners of the 2000 and 3000 cars have raised quite a stink about letting anything but original cars race.
If your name is Carrol Shelby then you can race whatever you want at almost any event. That is probably what you saw last year. If Carrol is Grand Marshall of the event he dictates what he wants and gets it.

Vintage Racing CSX4000/7000/8000 & Series One? :JEKYLHYDE
Let me pass on that there is "NO WAY" that Steve Earle will even consider a new Shelby vehicle for Vintage Racing at Monterey. There are many people with vintage vehicles that don't even get there car into the Monterey Historics due to the limited amount of slots. - Bill -

Elkhart Lake--Brian Redman Challenge--will allow nothing but vintage, period cars in. At one time, the SAI dealers were trying to create their own category; thus, the spec racer was born for the CSX 4000/7000 cars, but they compete with their own brethren--not the CSX 2000/3000 cars.

The Shelby 7000-series cars have raced at the Brian Redman event in Elkhart the last few years, but in a "catchall" class with a bunch of late-model NASCAR stuff, recent IMSA racers, Trans Am cars, etc. I have not seen them on the track anywhere else, although I certainly don't attend the majority of the vintage events out there--
