Rivetting on SPF
Hello there,
On all (i think) the pics I have seen of SPF's I can see some rivetting is done on the hood. Is this always so ? Can it be done so that you don't see any rivets on the outside of the hood/car ? I think (my opinion) rivets look cheap on a car. (it's just a feeling) And another question, why isn't there a forum for SPF, I can see a lot of other manufacturers, but no SPF, they are very popular aren't they ? Thank you! |

Similar to the "real" CSX 2000-3000 Cobras Spf has a very tight owners group/Forum but you need to own one to register and participate. Many SPF owners post here and will be more than happy to answer your questions |
I thought the rivets looked cheap too until I bought one. The rivets on my SPF are nice and shiny and stand out nicely on the hood and around the scoop. But I am positive you can get rid of them if you have the money.

Actually, if you order a new car, as a lot of people do, you can delete the rivets as an "option". Personally, I like them.

the rivets were on the original cars. as such, the most popular SPFs come with the rivets in the hood and the hoodscoop. you can order a SPF without the rivets in hood and socop as well as having the scoop molded flush with the hood vs raised at the outer edges as it is when rivets are installed. take your choice.

there are several different hoods as options, for the more recent cars, the hood scoop is molded slightly higher, to allow bigger aircleaners for the 460 CI cars, and as above, you can get polished SS rivets, like on mine, or no rivets, lots of ways to do your SPF.

Depends what your car is! Not all Cobra's had the rivets. The street version Cobars had a nice smooth hood. - Bill - |

Goes to show we are all different,,I am cutting my scoop and riveting on another one,the original s/c hoods were street rdstr hoods with a hole cut and a scoop riveted over,,thats why spf does it,it is much cheaper and easier to just mold it in like most replicas do,as far as the scoop size,,I detest larger ones on a cobra,,I was about to ditch my high rise set up insteed of redoing the scoop for air cleaner clearance,,but I relized it wasnt the scoop,,it all worked out,,so,,personal preference I suppose,,but to me it is sort of like painting ghost flames on a benz,,,looks like an abomination,,my personal opnion,,Tk |

...those wheels look like the optional 17" Superformance Halibrand style wheel. When you order thwe SPF you may choose either 15" or 17".

Yep, I think those are 17'' PSE wheels. Available as an option on the SPF's. I like the way they look from the front or back, nice and wide, but from the side they don't seem to fill out the wheel well well enough. On the car you have in your post it's harder to tell because it's a dark color car. On lighter colors it stands out more, you can see the black inner fender/wheel well surface between the tire and fender much more. Overall, I just like the more original look of the 15'' wheels, it's all just personal preference.
