Do many cobra owners use the LoJack system, is it really needed?

Security tips?

I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experience. I'm planning on installing LoJack soon before I finish the build. I can't think of a better way to #1-cut dowon on the possibility of total loss and #2 Cut insurance rates.

With the new system that can tell if the car has been moved, and will notify you immediately (not after YOU notice its gone) I think you can reasonably assume that this $120/yr annual fee will can be considered an alternative to prohibitive charges for theft.

And while we're talking about it. is there any one particular installation location that is better than others?

Honestly, if someone takes my car, I don't want it back. . . .

I don't have my car yet, but when I get it, one of the first things that I have installed will be a lojack. Peace of mind and cheaper insurance- seems like a win-win. And hopefully, if someone does take it, it will be found before serious damage can be done.

As an ex-police officer I can speak of the outstanding record Lo-Jack has in law enforcement circles. I have heard of recovery in less than 10 minutes.

The guy stopped at a gas station to fill up and turned around and found about 5 police cruisers staring him in the face. He gave up and the car was returned without any damage what so ever.

In a word... "they work". Ups, that’s two words. Seriously, they are a good investment in your cars recoverability. Cobra’s are high profile vehicles and from time to time they are stolen, having Lo-Jack would be good insurance that you’d get your car back quickly.

We tried to coordinate with a loJack rep for a group purchase/install for another car club I belong to. The Rep was less than helpfull. He would not tell us where he was going to put the unit and he would not put it where we wanted them to put it. Our concern was that in the course of the install they would screw up something else so we wanted to know where they were going to put it and we wanted to ensure it was a clean install and not some hack job. Since we know the car inside and out we would have been able to find it without any difficulty but we needed to know prior to the work being done. If you are going to do this I would talk to the installer before any wrench gets turned to make darn sure the unit goes where you want it and/or it doesn't screw up some other system.

Tinker 51 LoJack doesn't want the owner to know where the box is put because of I think they pay if the car is not recovered in 24 hours. The one I looked at had a 3 ft. antenna that was to be glued in the trunk of my car He wanted to drill the box into the rear fender well in the bottomof the of the trunk. Could have hit the gas tank. The system when I looked at it was good in the northeastern part of the country only. They may have full country ability now. I would want my car back. If who ever stole it get in a chase it will be destroyed anyway. I have an eye ring in my garage and the car cabled through it with a 20 ton cable and tp masterlock. A car can get stolen in 10 seconds, but if you take the coil wire or kill the battery in the trunk and keep it locked, our when not going to drive it for a some time take the wheels off and put them inside your house. Take the fuses out of your fuel pump if electric. Kill your ignition power. It is easy to prevent the thief. If they want it bad they come with a tow truck. Hope this helps everyone. Rick Lake
