TK,

I believe the originals were registered as a Ford Roadster. No mention of Shelby or Cobra. Several of the new CSX guys have titled their cars differently, and the rest wanted to title the car the way it was as they did back in the sixties.

CSX Titles...

...In the 60's the cars were MSO'd as "Shelbys" Over the years some have morphed into "Fords" or "Cobras". For example in the old days in New York if a new car dealer sent in a MSO and registration form (understand there were NO titles in NY until the 1973 model year) and had put "Ford" in the "Make" box the clerk would have typed "Ford" as the make even though it did not match the MSO. The registration SHOULD have had make "Shelby" and model as "Cobra".

A friend of mine had his CSX33XX registered as a "Ford" to allow cheaper insurance, no idea what would have happened had there been a claim...

Obviously as long as the CSX number is legit it will not make much difference if it is titled as a "Ford, Cobra or Shelby" but correctly it is NOT a Ford automobile. Ford did not manufacture or sell the cars, Shelby did via franchised dealers who just happened to be Ford dealers. I sold a friend a new 1982 Jeep via my Ford store and when we sent the paperwork in to the DMV it came back registered as a "Ford"-seems the clerk used to putting the "Ford" make in the large pile we had sent never even looked at the MSO other than for the VIN. Took 2 years to get it corrected...

My 1968 GT350 convertible was originally titled in the state of Ohio as a 1968 Shelby, Cobra, 2dr, convertible.

My 1969 GT350 convertible was originally titled in the state of NJ (as was until it left for Texas two years ago) as a 1969 Ford, Cobra, 2dr, convertible.

Both cars I got with the original title and paperwork (both cars purchased from the original owners).....Both titled as Cobras, go figure that one out.

I have seen only one original CSX2000 series cars original title, in which it lists it as a 1964 Shelby, Cobra, 2dr convertible (NJ title).........Each state is different in how the cars were titled, some said Shelby, some said Ford under the make line item............

Varies from State to State as to what is listed on the title. My CSX 2000 is titled as "1963 Ford 2dr. Rdstr". It is a Michigan title. I have seen others that are different. Ask Jim Maxwell what the descriptions are on his 2000 and 3000 cars.

The MSO supplied with the car states, "Shelby Cobra 427."
My state dropped the 427 from the title.
Also, the MSO states 1965 as the model year, but mine got titled as a 1966 to match the block code.
