Too expensive!
BUT! Does anyone have any blueprints for the Cobra? One with as much chrome as possible, lol. I want to build a cobra in a 3D program, kind of making up for the fact I cannot afford to even build a kit! I can find plenty of pics all over the place, but not of any blueprints to get the dimensions pretty much bang on.

Seems to me that Cobra Restorers had them for sale. Do a search on them and you will find their site.
That would be cool to see in a 3D program. Will the program analyze structural rigidity in order to make improvements? Crumple zones? Decent side impact? Rick |

Thanks guys! Those were a great help. rdorman: This is just for show, there isnt any Cobra 427 models of a decent calibre available to use out there on the internet, so I am making my own.
I am now modelling... Just one question (for now :p ), am I seeing things, or are there many different slight varieties in body shells for the Cobra 427? I have been looking through the gallery section of this site, and it's almost like for every car there is a slight variation, be it on the wheel arches, wings, cowls, everything... If this is true, this would be great news as I wouldnt have to be so exact on a few things, lol. |
Look at the ERA web site and you will see a great deal of variety and they have all side views.

Keep us posted on what you find. I'm in the process of building a Lone Star LS427 and trying to mock one up in ACAD 2002 as well. Having good blueprints would be a nice start, but I guess I will work from a full scale model instead. Like you I want to play with the one on the computer before I invest in something radical on the car. Keep up the good fight, Mark |

Franklin mint makes a true model as one might care to have. I think it retails for $200. Aluminum body nice detail. It has Shelby's approval (probably why it is $200).. They also did a pewter sculpture and it was $1000. :LOL:

Are you going to use any Mechanical Designer plug-ins for ACAD, or are you planning the design in the base package? John |

Just using the base package for now. I have a few add-in packages for ACAD but they are for electrical schematics and 3D piping. I haven’t tried the body as yet. I not really trying to 3D model in the truest form. I just want a skinned wire frame to render then generate a 2D image for printing, T-shirts, or a poster. Maybe come up with some cool stuff like Stuck makes for his T-shirts. Mark |

Sounds great. Keep me posted on your progress. I've done some 3D modeling in the past. Not very graceful in the base package. ERA looks to have done quite a bit of their design work in Cad, if you look at their web site. Some of it looks to be 3D, but I don't believe it was in ACAD. John |
