Fred

I had them on the car when I ran full autocross series' schedules with "our" car. Some of the decals were mandatory (SCCA Pro Solo and Divisional). Couldn't find them in static cling--which tended to get dirty quickly at typical autocross sites anyway when I used numbers on the Vette. I used the old racers' trick of "sticking" the adhesive side of regular decals to a rug a couple of times, waxing the hell the hell out of the area of the car where they were going. Despite the 20 year old paint, I never had any problems pulling them off slowly with a hair dryer warming things up first.

By golly ol buddy--do it YOUR way!;)

BTW--When and where did I advertise it as a "390 Cleveland"? It does have every damn bit of 390hp though.:3DSMILE:

Oh YA.. :) put them on and open the exhaust!
DV--if we can't see ya, we darn sure want to hear ya!

Fred Douglass 05-17-2003 08:10 PM

Jamo, me lad.......

Thanks for the pointers on decalage. Yeah, re the misleading "390"---my error**) %/ NOW I've gotta find out how to bust into my logo (legend?) and set things right! A question about "static cling" decals--not worth it?

Oh, BTW, they have finally freed up a portion of Otis AFB and are having several "Auto-X" and "time trial" events Mem Day week-end. On go the huge Hoosiers. I'll private-post ya on what happens. Apparently they have a drivers' school next week some time. I didn't inquire what type of results or "official" benefits this school gives the participants. The ones at Louden (NH) and Lime Rock give you some start towards an SCCA license which apparently gives you some insurance breaks---maybe just an easement for informal "racing". :D

Chow,

Fredrick

You're gonna have mucho fun!;)

A Snake 05-17-2003 09:40 PM

Go for it Fred! Just wax the crap out of the car first so any dust won't scratch it when you slide the clings around.

:):):)

Thanks, Jamo et Al

Al-----since you're a "Contemporary Man" have a look at my Photo Gallery--that's Rick Long's Contemporary with apparently the only Dove Big Block that stayed non-porous!!! His decals started me down that road---as did the SUPERB 289 at House of Cobras (the Fairlane Blue one with little Max in it). I suppose if I go AutoXing etc. next week-end, I will have "raced" and won't feel quite so SHEEPISH aboot it! (OOOOOOOOHHHHH NOOOOOO-o-o-o, I used the forbidden "SHEEPish"!I forgot that Jamo was reading this thread!!):JEKYLHYDE Anyway, they say the time-trial deal is INSANE. The runoff (read: "spin-out") areas are HUGE---acres of cement "tarmac". We race on an unsused runway with 3,000-300 yard dimensions! Ray Charles could race here without hittin' nuttin'!

Chow,

Jamo 05-17-2003 10:27 PM

Trust the Hoosiers.

Excaliber 05-17-2003 11:20 PM

Jamo that should be,

"Use the Hoosiers Luke, may the force be with you."

Ernie LOL
