Caliper rubbing on wheel
I noticed when I had the rear wheels off of the SPF that the emergency brake caliper was rubbing on the inside of the rear wheel. Just enough to make a groove all the way around the wheel. It has filled in with grime so the previous owner either ground down the caliper or it just ground on its own till it stopped. Anyone have this problem? BTW drivers side.

I've seen this problem with certain wheel/brake combinations. Recently, Bill K had the very same problem on his Daytona build using PS Engineering wheels off an ffr roadster. Had to grind down the spot caliper.

I bet you have Willwoods and 15" wheels, right?
The parking brake "spot caliper" will rub. You need to knock it down some with a sander. I use a 90* die grinder with the 3" sandpaper disks in 150 grit, it takes just a minute, then spray paint the caliper flat black again. Trial fit of course before saying you are done.

I also noticed that the caliper itself is very loose. The bolts are tight but the caliper itself can be physically wiggled back and forth easily. Any rule of thumb on tightness? I have good meat on all the pads. I am surprised that House of Cobras didnt sand the caliper down first, they should have known.

Why not just get rid of the parking brake alltogether ?? They don't work well anyway...

They are just of a mediocre design. If you work on it long enough you can get it to keep your car stopped, but you will have to adjust it often.

Calipers are suppose to move. Get an IRS.. or go with 17's..

He just needs to grind off a tad off the top of the parking brake calipers, no big deal. Takes five minutes, after you have removed the wheels. They can work OK if adjusted, but it is a parking brake, not an E-brake, or a "hold your car on a steep hill" brake

It figures. I just want a "Hold the car so the wind doesnt blow it down the street" brake! lol!
