Something smell like fish in here

rdorman 05-16-2003 07:44 AM

I don't think so!

I don't beleive for a minute that car is sold for $70,000 unless it is some sort of scam. Money laundering? Who knows. Don't get me wrong, it looks like one nice FFR. But if some one really paid that much for a glass FFR, they should have their head examined.

If the buyer reads this. Change your mind and I will give you a great deal on a older Unique. Only $60,000!

How about a Contemporary Classic Motor Car for $100,000

rdorman 05-16-2003 08:01 AM

Well......

If then FFR is worth $70,000, then I guess this one is worth $100,000:LOL:

Geeze...on that SPF, the GOODYEAR EAGLE white lettering is HUGE!

rdorman 05-16-2003 08:26 AM

99% sure

I am virtually positive that the lettering is just painted on. Look at the tread and in one photo you can see raised white lettering on the inside of the tire. I probably would have used a smaller font! An 'A' for effort though.
Rick

stale_face 05-16-2003 08:31 AM

Might be an A for effort, but a D- for artist talent...

rdorman 05-16-2003 08:38 AM

I must admit, I have thought about doing it. But with the amount of laughter it generated in here I changed my mind!

Rick,

How about a "newer" Unique for $50K.. Limited time offer.

(is the buyer from Nigeria?)

RACERAL 05-16-2003 08:47 AM

Bill with the real one... you know where I can get a ffr build like the one on the auction for 25 K and I buy it form you...

casaleenie 05-16-2003 08:54 AM

Racer Al,

We don't know what the quality of the build is... It's just a picture...Not a complete list of components or extras... but I do know that there are deals on cars coming up all the time that are quality and for half the price...

How does e-bay charge for car sales??? Is it a percentage of the sale price....? If the first bid is from a shill (possibly the owner), does he pay commission on the $70K?

stale_face 05-16-2003 09:02 AM

The reserve on the FFR was NOT $70k. It was much lower, about half that I think. It appears a couple of parties are dying to get this car.

Excaliber 05-16-2003 09:02 AM

This car is no indication of ANY market being up or down. It really doesn't even matter what the "specs" on this car are, no way you can justify anywhere near that price.

460? Bolt on wheels? I bet it has a solid axle? NO way the specs are even close to "correct".

Talk about new owner depreciation! I have heard an average of 18-20% but 50%. Ouch!

Does anyone have any idea of who the 'buyer' or seller is?

Lets all put our cars up for sale at a ridiculous amount. Bid on the for each other but never take ownership. Then have a fire sale. Kirkham and Shelby, etc would not be able to keep up with the orders:LOL: ;)

I agree with the earlier post about money laundering! Hell, they don't even know how to spell Tremec?

casaleenie 05-16-2003 09:36 AM

I can see the smart owners are putting the cars for sale on e-bay.
If you advertise within the Cobra community you'll only get a fair market value... On e-bay the sky is the limit... You just might catch a nut... Worth a chance...

Sheppard 05-16-2003 11:04 AM

Don't forget the Joe Marlin/Santa Rosa Phil saga and the Shelby 427.......this could all be slight of hand!

walt347 05-16-2003 11:28 AM

Have a look at the items the current high bidder bought in the past (candle holder, camera lenses, camera bags.......). Nothing relates to a vintage car, muscle car or a Cobra ???

I'm totally confused ..... where is the hidden secret of this car ?

The bottom line is unless unless you have a 300,000.00 "original" they are all "fake plastic sh#t boxes" and your Unique is not better than his ERA or the other guys A&C or the other guys FFR . The new generation FFR with the new bodys, frames and adjustable control arms and a few other things has really no comparison to the 4-5 year old FFRS you guys like to bash. Its all about intrinsic value .
Ive seen many many FFRS that kick ass on some ERA/ Unique builds and Vice versa
A 70K FFR probably not ... but what makes your 38K ERA or whatever brand worth anymore than a well built 2nd generation big block IRS FFR with all the goodies?......beside a built in price premium that was paid for say a Unique kit for the name ?

Ranting aside I really love "All" Cobra replicas no brands withstanding .

Boy, that should get someone's dander up!
