Cobra Tire question -
I bought a set of Cobra tires from Shelby this week and have a question regarding the logo 'painted' on the side. I knew that they were extremely crude in their application, but one was so damaged I stripped it hoping to re-paint it myself. Big mistake. Brush or q-tip paint application was useless.
I fear that the only way to re-paint the logo will be to cut a stencil and spray it - a daunting task on a curved surface. Luckily, the logo is painted on both sides, so I suppose I could have it re-mounted with the remaining 'artwork' facing out. Any shared experiences and potential solutions would be appreciated. I knew I was going to sacrifice a lot for a correct 'look' - but the brick hard bias ply ride and the laughable logo application has me wondering if I've made a horrible mistake. Thanks in advance. |
You might try Eastwood i think they have a paint just for tires

Tire stores use a "grease paint" type of crayon to mark tires with that I have found to be very effective.
Hang in there - they are worth it! Pat |
To be "correct" is a worthy goal and my hats off to those who strive for it. But it do come at a price. I'm sure your art work will look fabulous in the end (and don't worry about the ride, it's just a "real" Cobra ride)!

Thanks to you guys. I will soldier on in the name of authenticity.
