I kinda sorta agree! (although mine is blue w/ white stripes.) I bought mine that way. If I were to change colors in the future, I would make it a purple-ish red, or a black cherry color.

When I first started on my Cobra I was seriously thinking about blue.
After getting more exposure to Cobras I found they are all mostly some shade of blue.
Not wanting to be ANOTHER BLUE COBRA I went with a
Candy Apple Red.

Blykins,

It was great idea to give the two examples to choose from. Personally, my car has to be red. That has always been my color. However, you'll get fewer tickets with blue. :D

I would choose a darker shade of blue, though. I saw a really nice cobalt blue Cobra at a local show that was amazing. The red looks better after it gets a few scratches and dings though. If you drive your car much, it's something to think about.

I guess most people paint their Cobra's Blue because they look so fantastic.

But, if you paint it blue and bring it to the Fling you better remember your license plate number--so you can find which car in yours.

Paint it RED RED

What ever color you paint it--I'm sure it will look great--
I've only seen one ugly color.

I saw a Viper that was a very dark plum color with darker ghost stripes. That was one of the best colors I saw on a car.

Blue does look the best in my opinion but I just couldn't handle having a run of the mill color on mine. I keep changing m mind. Right now I am thinking of going with the new Saab "Dolphin Grey" with a black stripe, meatballs & wheels. It'll change again next week :D

Pure red, no stripe, is staggeringly beautiful with a cobra's shape. My choice if I had not already done the titanium/black bit...

bittentoo 06-04-2003 02:32 PM

Mine will be orange with white stripes.....now that will be different and you won't have to remember your license plate number! Think that would stand out in a sea of blue:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Go with the Blue!

Mike Braatz 06-04-2003 05:16 PM

BITTENTOO

I think at last years Fling there were three Orange cars--
They were absolutely beautiful.
The few, the proud, the orange.
You will not need to memorize your plate #

Mine will be 1965 Mustang Poppy Red which showed up several more times on fords with other names such as 1970 calipso Coral . The color actually is a
bright Orange.

I think Poppy Red is a good choice---I'm sure you will be happy with your choice.
Are you going to the fling??

Mike,

Thanks for the reply and info. I have always gone a little left of norm when it came to my cars and motorcycles!

My 71 Torino GT that I'm restoring right now is Calispo Coral with the shaker and rear slats. Love the color and am used to seeing it with the flat black componants. Don't know how it would look against white.

Blue, Blue, Blue. Clean and striking :3DSMILE:

Ten years or so ago I painted my business partners 70 429 Torino GT Calypso Coral ( i went and checked the spelling seems we both had it wrong) When I was searching auto color looking for a color I checked the 65 chart because I remembered a college buddy's 65 stang was poppy red and I remembered Calypso Coral which I almost ordered on my 70 Boss 302. I was supprised to find that both had the same ppg paint code 60449. So i searched further and found it 3 more times with different names. At any rate I hope to have mine painted by the end of the month.
Later
