Flying Meatballs!
 

Darn it!

Lost two of 4 meatballs.
Not even 100 miles on them and 50% are gone!

Used Zymol wax, and they didn't stick.
what a waste.

I liked the way they looked.
Might have to have some painted on.

How did you apply them?

Stuck them on a clean dry surface.
No soap, residue, oil, armour-all, etc.
Just clean, dry clear coat.

I bet...
 

if you simply used some duct tape around the perimeter of the meat ball it would stay.:LOL:

My first guess was that I used the wrong kind of sause.
I pressed the meatball against the paint and most of the sause squeezed out and ran down the side of the car.

Maybe I can tie them on with a linguine or ziti chain.

Wet meatballs anyone?
 

Wet the area down with water, put on the meat ball and squeegee out the excess and let dry over night. Mine have never flew off!

Rick is right. You have to use some type of liquid. Soapy water is good, I use windex. Squeege out the bubbles and give it some time to setup. I drove to Carlisle in an hour and half downpour at 60mph and did not lose any of the 4 meatballs.

The way Rick did it is the way we put the stripes and stuff on a friends Cuda and they have never peeled or even acted as if they want to come off. And that was about 3 years ago.

I will have to give windex a try. Clean and install in one step! Water works fine but I can see where windex might be better. I seem to recall some one using one of those 'speed shine' products as well but have never tried it since water has always worked so well.

Use a squeegee that is not to hard nor has any sharp edges. Like the ones you use on glass and be sure that everything is clean/dust free. Over night to dry is best.

Remember meatballs are static cling....If your wax/polish is low static or no static the meat balls will not stick. I just changed to Zaino and have shelved my meatballs.

I've got at least a half dozen coats of Zaino Z2 on my SPF, and my meatballs stick - and stick well. I've done 140 on the front straight-away at T-Hill many times without a single edge of my static-cling meatballs even thinking about starting to peel off.

First I wipe down the side with Z6 to be sure it's clean of dust. Then I squirt liberally a mixture of 1/2 capful of Z7 car wash in a 16oz squirt bottle. I then peel the meatball off of the refrigerator (best place to store them) and apply it to side. If needed I squirt some more under the edges to ensure that the meatball is really slippery against the side of the car. This allows me to position it exactly where I want it. I then grab my roller squeegy and start rolling out the excess liquid and air bubbles, starting from the center and working towards the edge. I go all the way around twice to be sure. Then I wipe off the excess liquid with a dry polishing towel. Then do the other side. I let the car sit for at least 24 hours before driving it.

I have repeated this process for the past few years, and even applied my meatballs to my Mustang to go OT'ing at LSIR (noise limits prevent running my SPF there).

The key is using a good soap based solution, rolling out all of the bubbles and liquid, and letting it setup. Then storing them properly.

Soft rubber like used for printing, about 3 to 4 inches wide.
Get it at a craft shop.
