Curious about your cars weight
Hi all.
Got my vehicle registration done today and my initial insurance registration as well. The car is now a car!! Anyhow part of the process was getting the car on a weigh scale for the registration slip. Without gas and less its rollbar the car weighed 1060 Kg. Thats 2332 Lbs for my American counterparts Not too bad for a BB428 Tremec TKO and an IRS ....curious to see how the rest of you weigh in Kirkhams, ERA's, Super's, etc Power to weight should be good. I also have a BB 428, Tremec TKO, but a, Ford 9" currie posi. Wet was 2,440. 501 hp & 550 torque. Does anyone know how to equate power to weight ratio ??? :confused:

divide weight by horsepower, gives you pounds per horsepower

Although power to weight ratio's may be configured in many ways, it is the proportion of the vehicles curb weight DIVIDED by the vehicles horsepower measured at peak rpm. A vehicle that produces more horsepower than another vehicle of equal weight will have a greater power to weight ratio.

Hey Arks, how is the peak hp. measured ? With 500 hp, at 6,200 rpm, with a weight of 2400 lbs, what would that be ? I guess I'll have to call you the "professor" hehe !

Hi funfer2, S**t, I did not mean to sound like a professor, I'm far from it.
But the answer to your question, I presume is this. Peak horsepower is the rpm value at which the power available from the engine is at a maximum. i.e the engine can take no more to get your power to weight ratio is still the same, weight divided by horsepower. I hope no one asks to go deeper into this topic cause I'm at my peak rpm, dont know more than this. |

How are things down under?? You better not put too much HP under the hood down there or those souped engines will go way of gun ownership. Watch out for the politicians. Just listen to our Calif. guys on this forum. |

2370 with me and half a tank of fuel. That would be about 2130 without me and fuel.

With 427 side oiler, top loader 4-speed, Jag rear end and full tank of gas: 2,786 pounds. Remove the fuel . . . doesn't run very well . . . and weight drops to 2,660 pounds.

Great pic! Iweighed mine on a similar setup (Rebco, I think) and found some of the same things. Slightly heavy on the right side will probably disappear with a driver in the seat. Better than 50% rear is good too. The left/right and front/rear percentages for mine were very close to yours with my total weight at 2657 with gas, oil and water. BTW, you really should do a little adjustment - I've seen circle track race cars with lower cross weight percentage! :D :JEKYLHYDE |
Four corner scales at DVSFIII
The plan was, and to my knowledge has not changed, to have a four corner scale setup on Sunday at DVSFIII. So if you don't know what your car weighs, give a couple of bucks to Jenny and find out!
