Header/exhaust problem
I just bought an Everett Morrison Cobra today with a 428 and developed a major exhaust leak on the way home. Where the headers go through the fender and in to the collector - it appears they have come apart? What holds them together? They were wrapped with some kind of asbestos looking tape?

Hi Vick,
Welcome to Club Cobra and congrats on the Cobra!! E-M uses a bolted flange to connect the headers to the side pipes. If you remove the tape you should find where they bolt together and best case you will be able to replace, or just tighten, a bolt or two and be on your way :). Worst case you will find that the pipes have rusted through and it will cost you about $500 for a new set :(. Good Luck!! -Jon Miller P.S. If you get a chance take a look at where your steering shaft comes out of the foot box--I've got a question. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=42416 Thanks! |
