rear end questions
Using a 4:11 rear end, from a 86ish stang and it had a type of shock on the ends (near wheels) that attached to body, I assume its to keep the rear coils from falling out ( I hope) lol
My coils keep falling out then I jack the rear end up So my ? is where do I mount these as my B&B from has no room? |
The little sideways shocks were not to keep the springs in. The regular shocks and suspension setup did not drop enough for the springs to fall out.
The sideways socks, otherwise known as the "kicker" shocks were there in an attempt to stop rear axle hop under acceleration and tire spin. Basically Ford's version of traction bars. . . . The base Mustangs did not have the quadrashock rear suspension. So in short, your problem lies elsewhere. |
Sorry to contradict, but the vertical shocks on the Fox-body cars DID keep the springs in place. To remove the springs disconnect the shocks and pry out the springs.
Early model FFR Cobras used a cable to limit travel thus keeping the springs in place. They still may today, I don't now. My Classic Roadsters Sebring MX uses the shocks to limit travel. |
Sorry about rattling on. Think about the consequences when you drive over a rise in the road that lifts your car off the ground and the springs pop loose. I'm not talking about street racing either.
