Back in Black Question 4 You

Can you tell me what you had to go through to get your car registered in WA?
Thanks,
Ed

Man you are gonna love this... depending on where you live in WA...

IF one is outside of the Tacoma/Seattle (Or spokane I think) zones of emissions testing, then....

All you do is show up with either the point of origin papers (new car or kit build) OR bring your registration from another state.. pay the excise tax (one time for new cars first time registration only. If your car was registered prior in another state you don't pay this, and you don't pay it if you can prove you paid sales tax for it already, anywhere...) and the WA state lisc fees, and DRIVE. That's it. Nothing else required... no inspection, no proof of insurance, etc... nice :MECOOL:

If you are in the above large urban zones, you have to pass emissions first  :(

Thanks for the info. When you say "point of origin papers" are you reffering to the "Cert. of Manufacturer's Origination"? My certificate says 1967 Cobra, but also has a 2001 date when sent to me. I wonder if I have to register it as a 2001?
Could you e-mail me your phone #, I'd like to talk to you. I have a house less than 40 miles north of you on HWY 101.
Thanks Ed

You will likely end up with it registered as a 2001 or a 2003, depending.

Mine ended up being a 2002 registration but says it is a 1966 model year "kit car" class or something...
Best bet is to go in and ask them without revealing anything they do not ask you for. Lisc is a privatized business in this state and usually pretty cool about it. You can register it anywhere in the state. maybe a smaller town lisc agency would be easier %/

The process here is very laid back. Hope that helps.

I might be mistaken, but if your veh is titled over 25 years old, no emissions.

Unless your a GASHOLE! :JEKYLHYDE
