Street Driving Gear Ratio's
what ratio's do you guy's run for daily drivers, I tend to like 3:73 to 4:10s. I know the car won't run much pass 125mph with the 4:10s, but the acceleration is awsome. I like to be able to go through the gears in a short distance as opposed to 60mph in first. come around a corner and it's 10-100 and back to 10 mph, in less than a quarter mile. what do you guy's think ?

I'm running 4:10's in mine. Goes like a bat out of hell off the line and doesn't smoke up the tires like a taller gear. Downside ( and I don't know what tranny you are using?) is I'm running 4k rpm at 70mph with a Wide-ratio Toploader. I am going to put in 3.55 gears. That will drop the rpm's to about 3300 at 70mph. Of course the sound that the small block makes cranking 4k in rpm's is awesome! Sounds like a Nascar!!! Especially when going under bridges!!! :D

I take a lot of extended trips on the Cobra, so I like the 3.08 gears. Not as quick as a lower gear, but the fuel economy is nice, and at 1700 rpm at 60 mph, it's quiet enough to carry on a normal conversation.

It depends on where you do most of your driving. Freeway or around town. Sounds like you do more around town, so lower gears would be more fun w/o a concern for that annoying high rpm whine at freeway speeds. I myself run 3.70's. Seems like a good comprimise and I can still squirt out of a cannon like an incestial Jody chasing after his sister Buffy, before Mr. French catches them in the act!

what size tires do you guy's use ? (hight) and how hard do the 3:08s pull above 120mph, does it start to flatten out ?

In General...
Not all, but in general I've found that most people with small block Cobras prefer 3.55s or 3.73s with 5speeds, and several with Big Block Cobras and Toploader 4speeds run 3.31s or 3.08s because the extra torque pulls you right through the gears.
These cars are so light, to me it does not make sense to run 4.10 rear gears, and especially with the 5speeds that have such low 1st gears anyhow.

3.08 in an 8.8 rear, 1800 RPM @ 80, Tremec 5 speed, 351W. Not the quickest in the world, but 130+ is FUN FUN FUN!!!
