I got classic roadster and i recently built an 426 stroker windsor engine tuning the engine on the engine dyno we made 605hp , i'installed it in my car and and considering the car only weigh's 2500lbs the car should feel like a rocket but it didn't so i brought it to chassic dyno and did three runs it was only making 359hp to the wheels i did'nt know where all the power went to. then i dicided to take the side pipes off and see what it makes, what a shock from 359hp to 509hp to rear wheels just with removing the side pipes so i bought set of proflow race mufflers and installed them and went and did another run and it made 484hp and 468tq to the wheels know the car feels like a rocket but i put a set of slicks on the back and i have 8.8 rearend and t5 transmission first launch i broke trans and rear end. can any body tell me waht i should be putting in as trans and rear end and what should this car run in the quarter mile ! p.s I'm just curious because i couldnt even make one run.

A TKOII would be a good start although that's beginning to get iffy with your claimed 468 ft/lbs on a hooked up launch.

Let the folks at Currie put you in a 9+ rear end with their axles. If you break that setup, I'd be amazed. An Auburn limited slip wouldn't hurt. Some Yukon's at 3.50 or 3.73 should be about right as you are 2300-2500 lbs off the line.

And remember, this is a 90" wheelbase car. For Pete's sake...keep it straight and DO NOT TRY TO RECOVER a run that begins to need steering correction. Get out of the throttle!

The NATOPS manual for an F-4J mandated you eject ANYWHERE below 20,000 feet when in a flat spin. I knew I could recover...the manual had to be wrong. I was wrong. Thank God for a flight simulator and too bad we dont have them for these cars. 5:1 weight to horsepower ratios - and less - arent for the inexperienced or the overly enthusiastic.

I would think with this setup you should be SOMEWHERE in the low 11s to mid 12s... depending on altitude, track, temperature, tires, fuel, and........driver.

I can't imagine putting a stroked 426 into a cobra and NOT putting a 9" rear end in it. I run a Ford 9" with a tremec 5 speed. Give the guys at Mcleod a call to get you setup with the right kind of clutch you need. Otherwise you will right back where you are now.
