Tunes

IMHO,
If you have a nice ride, you should have nice tunes.
Have a stereo in mine w/ CD, I love it.
But to each his own.;)

Spoony 07-07-2003 04:27 PM

Roscoe,

To each his own right? I don't say anything about all the stickers you put on your car, but I'm sure you think its cool, actually so do I but its not for me. I would never call you a hoosier or a Richard Petty wanttabe for doing what you want to your own car! I can't wait to hear from you after my chrome 17" wheels come in.

George Snyder 07-07-2003 06:23 PM

No response, I can't stop laughing long enough to type any more.

kountzecobra 07-07-2003 06:59 PM

I have a hidden system in mine too! It's hidden in the garage where it belongs!

aumoore 07-07-2003 08:10 PM

I have thought about putting in a Stereo but wverytime I do I come to my senses and realize that I would have to turn up the volume to actuall hear it. Then I think about how I feel when some kid pulls up next to my in my daily driver and all I can hear is his music instead of mine. Now if a muscle car pulls up next to me I turn the stereo down and roll down the window to hear the pipes.

Gearheads can live without music if the pipes are tuned right.

If you pull up next to me and all I can hear is P'Diddy over your pipes I will shame you with the title "RICER ON STEROIDS" ;)

Spoony 07-07-2003 08:14 PM

aumoore *LOL* Ricer on Steroids...NICE ONE! What if you hear Frank Sinatra?

Back in Black 07-07-2003 09:38 PM

Funny,...

I seem to remember it was the RARE hotrod from the 1960's on that did not have a stereo, beginning with the 8 track tape. Even before that time kids cruised main street and went to A & W root beer while listening to the "stereo".

Turk 07-07-2003 10:10 PM

Stereo is cool, but the stickers are tacky!

TURK

GeorgiaSnake 07-08-2003 02:57 AM

Turk stereo is on both sides - stickers are tacky only on one side.

Tony Radford 07-08-2003 03:52 AM

When I bought my car, it had an ultra high-power system built into the trunk (very nice show touch). I ignored it for the first year, but now I find myself listening to it all the time. I have some Jan and Dean, B'Boys and ZZ Top. It adds to the mood when I'm tooling around town. I doubt that I would have installed one if I built the car myself, but it does come in handy at times. You have to use quality drivers to overcome the sound of the side pipes.

BlueRooster 07-08-2003 05:51 AM

I took a 3 hour ride to the Jersey shore the weekend of the 4th. The stereo was a nice companion. The engine was nice for the first 2 hours, but after that the stereo got better and better.

Now who on CC actually listens to P'diddy?

Roscoe 07-08-2003 06:24 AM

Well, The occasional placement of racing stickers on a race car is, I take it, some kind of tacky violation. At least I can take mine off and on and they cost me next to nothing.

I'm all for the live and let live but whenever someone starts a thread on stereos they push my button. It's just not cricket!

I am also stunned that Evan put in a radio. Nothing is sacred anymore...it's like learning that Santa is dead.

My car has a stereo in it, which is they way I bought the car. The stereo is mounted low in the dash, behind a plastic cover, and the speakers are between the seats on the back.

It's funny, when I take the car to cruise nights, the first thing the sub-25 year old crowd looks at is how the stereo is in the car and ask how loud it is. I just tell them that I'm not sure how loud it is, because I can't hear it with the "real" music playing, and I kindly point to the sidepipes.

Do I listen to the stereo when I'm cruising around? Sure. It's there, and I use it. But I agree with Roscoe that if I'm doing anything more than slow cruising, I have to turn it up so loud that it becomes obnoxious. So on the highway, I turn it off. I prefer the engine music anyhow. If I was building a car myself, I don't know that I would put it in the car again.

Roscoe, I think just for you, I'll design a special stereo system. It'll even have a little button that, when pressed, will reveal a nice large pair of cup holders! :D :JEKYLHYDE Hey...what good are your favorite tunes if you don't have your cool drink?

Steve

Roscoe 07-08-2003 06:51 AM

Steve,

YES! YES! Remember the billet cupholder thread on 'the other forum?' Almost got me suspended!

Hey? Can we talk.....cupholders?

Roscoe

Art Burtt 07-08-2003 07:31 AM

Hey Roscoe,
Now ya tell me after I cut the hole in the dash for radio/CD player
jeeez!!!!

BANDIT 1 07-08-2003 08:46 AM

WOW, I can't bielieve that Evan's Cobra IS NOT a "Real 1"! I have never heard of any "real" Cobra's coming with stereo system's in it.

What's next Evan, fuzzy dice?

Roscoe 07-08-2003 08:51 AM

I've heard rumors that Evan has a secret cupholder under the dash.

Roscoe

BlueRooster 07-08-2003 08:57 AM

Admin: sorry about the off color comment. Ive never been edited before.

It's amazing that you can hear something on prime time TV, but not regurgitate it on an open internet forum...I hope no one was offended.

Spoony 07-08-2003 09:04 AM

CUT HOLDER!!!!
NOW THAT'S A GOOD IDEA!!!!

Bill Wells 07-08-2003 10:48 AM

i love it...sounds of the pipes and sounds from the radio when desired. i buried a Custom Autosound Secret Audio radio and speakers under the dash with amplifier in the trunk. from the outside the only thing that shows is a 1/2" thick sized, 1-1/2"x4" tuner face plate that can be removed. radio can be operated by a wireless remote as well. going thru the gears ya dont hear much, but when cruising on some of my lengthy 3-5 hr runs the sound of music in 5th gear is welcomed. speakers are under the dash too so sound separation/quality is compromised, but with the wind and pipes the sound is compromised anyway. i chose not to cut any holes in the dash or bulkhead for radio or speakers or sound could be quite dramatic as some of the posters have already declared. stereo pipes, stereo radio...life is good in the fast lane. bill.
