*Any responce helpful* Need info for CG Cobra 427 SC
Hi! Hope Someone can help me. I have an odd request.
I'm building a 3d computer graphic Cobra 427 SC and I need more information about the origional car in order to make it more authentic. I've done a lot of research for this project already, but there are some bits of info I've not been able to find. I wonder if you would be willing to help me out? It would be much appreciated! I will provide a High res. downloadable copy of the completed image to those who provide the info I need. This is what I know I need: 1. Dementions for the front openings, height and width (inches). 2. Height/width of the hood scoop opening (as origionaly designed). 3. The distance between the headlights from center to center. 4. The distance between the taillights from center to center. 5. Width of the body at the point just aft of the front fender flare and before the side pipe opening (above the rounded edge). 6. I need the tread pattern for the OEM Good Year Speedway Special tires (if possible. if not, don't worry). Also Would you mind having a look at these images to tell me what they need to be more like OEM. Some of them were made using replica parts for referance. http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/sidepipe_gascap.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/windshield_frame.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/bucket_seat.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/bullet_mirror.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/moreparts.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/S...ment_panel.jpg http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/parts_shifter.jpg Here's an extrememly rough screen shot of the car at it's current stage. These colors are temporary. It's gonna be Guardsman Blue and Wimboldon White (right?) if the hex codes I have are correct. http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/CobraCapture.jpg Thank you for your help and advice! |
Any responce would be apreciated thanks.

what format are you looking for?

Thanks for your responce!
Actually I was just hoping for the physical dimentions in inches above. Maybe directly measured from somone's car if it's no trouble. But if you've got a file with that information I can read most image or text formats. If its a 3d file with acurate geometry then .blend or .dxf would be fine. I may be able to convert other formats. What kind of file do you have? Thanks, Roger |
Roger - Very nice work! If you ever decide to do a CG of a 289 FIA Cobra, let me know.

Gas cap: The original mate to the top cap screwed onto a base flange. There was a slight gap at the base, not a fillet, and the diameter was closer to the cap size.
http://www.erareplicas.com/427/fuelfill.jpg The 4 tubes of the sidepipes flared to the next larger size for the first 2", so that the primary pipes fit into them. The (Talbot) bullet mirror didn't have a flared base. The roll bar rear brace joined center of the hoop. It wasn't off to the side significantly. The rest of your stuff looks pretty cool. ;) |

Also, how wide are the racing stripes at the oil cooler vent? I need an image of the of the origional seatbelts. Quote:
I'll make a link available as soon as I'm done. I have made a more accurate dash board sice these pics. The windshield needs a re-work. Here's the synthetic paint scheme: http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~rwv01/paint.jpg |
Yes, the filler had a roller catch.
The exhaust pipe flares were inside the body and not visible from the outside unless one got down on one's hands and knees. The mirror has a thin black rubber gasket that only extends past the casting by about 1/16". Our stripe diagram here. On my computer the "Wimbleton White looks a tad too yellow. Could be the monitor though... |
Alright, I'll make those changes. Thanks Bob!
Any word on the dimentions I need? -Roger |
Hello again! Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some good quality sound recordings of a 427 Cobra?

Might I assume from the links that you are here in Fresno? |
Yep. Sure am.
I figured this forum would be a good place to ask my questions because many of the builders have been down this road already in researching this these cars. |
Thanks to
Bob Putnam and Terry for your emails to me. Please check your email for my replies. |
