Whats the story here?
|
Cause of crash? Not sure, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car and the distributor is Definitely at the wrong end of the engine!

Also
Notice the reader board reads in KMH not MPH.......

English/European plates on the cars in the background (EDIT: and on the subject Cobra, after looking at the other pictures), too.
Looks like somebody got carried away (hopefully not literally) at a track day. Are those two nitrous bottles in the last picture? |
Looks like a dragstrip to me. And on the wrong side of the guard rail too, one end of which is stuck in the engine.
And people say Road Racing is too dangerous for them and their cars... D |
The Cobras is in bad shape. But the armco looks like pretzels. Hope nobody got hurt...
|
Definetly is a drag strip and the car is definetly on the wrong side of the guard rail pointed the wrong way to boot.... Easy explanation; steering wheel on the wrong side of car and distributor on wrong end of motor....
All kidding aside, looks like the fellow just totalled his car, hope he is o-k.... David |
Looks like Australia to me. Steering wheel on right side ( I'll leave you to determine if this means right hand or right way), speedo calibrated in KPH and the number plate are all good clues.
|
The way the legend of Jack Mays' incident at the Fling have grown, I'm surprised nobody has said that was his car. :D :JEKYLHYDE Just bustin' chops, Jack.

Any one recognize the wheels on this car? ...look like a current Crown Victoria or BBS or ???

This is at Tarlton dragstrip, just outside Johannesburg in South Africa.
The car looks like a KCC (Kit Car Centre) Cobra. This is the same body manufacturer as Backdraft and Venom. The give away is the license tag with GP at the end-it is 'Gauteng Provence' or as the guys there call it- Gangsters Paradise. Hope this helps. Koos |
Well, at least we have narrowed it down to which continent it was on... %/

Side vents look ok, few bucks salvage in them!

Please don't tell me thats a Rover 3.5 litre under the bonnet ?

Sorry, I did not read this post earlier due to the header.
That is Tarlton Raceway in Johannesburg, South Africa. They were running a track day using the drag strip as part of the track. This car was pretty fast and was only about 100m into the strip when it got sideways. The rest was history including the car. He was taken away by ambulance. From what I hear he was O.K. The cobra in question was from Kit Car Center. FYI they do not produce the bodies for our Venom 427's. ___________ Ross Sinclair Performance Cars www.performcars.com |
