David,
Glad to see you sign in here. What's the status on Turk's CSX?
Did Thomas replace the Girlings and move the pedals?

David Kirkham 07-14-2003 09:47 PM

Dan,

The car is ready to be picked up any time.

David:) :) :)

Could someone put those photos in a slideshow format? I like to have both hands, errrr, never mind  :D

Dan Semko 07-15-2003 05:55 AM

David,
Thank you for your reply. What work was completed?

An important question concerning the new FIA is how do you feel this re-introduction will effect the cobra market and what new plans does Kirkham Motorsports have in the wind?

Will you visit Elkhart Lake this weekend and meet Jim Price as well as inspect the FIA? Your evaluation of the car, the differences between each would provide expert insights.

I noticed that the AC cars have a huge X-brace between the front suspension points, whereas other 'Cobras' don't have this brace.

Is this 'original'? It seems like it would help the car tremendously and was wondering why others don't have it.

Thanks

The original 427 (coil-spring) chassis has the large X-member in the front, as do CSX4Ks and Kirkhams... the original 289 (leaf-spring) chassis has a large trapezoidal perch for the leaf.

What are the squared risers on each side of the trunk lid for?

PatBuckley 07-15-2003 06:28 PM

Cowtown-

That was to make enough space in the trunk so the FIA mandated suitcase could be stowed....

Regarding that polished car - how gaudy!

David:) :) :)

Maybe because a very popular and attractive person(*cough* SFCJ *cough*) purchased one and now everybody wants one. Kinda like when I bought that "Members Only" jacket back in '83.;)

Yeah, another "fad" that passed me by......I must spend a lot of time with my head up my butt 'cause by the time I notice these "trends" they are out, the positive side is that because I am blissfully unaware of them, I manage to avoid being part of them!

:3DSMILE:

Like in the 80's when the "Don Johnson, unshaven-no socks, t shirt with suit" look was in-my wife said it was "sexy" When I tried it she said I looked like a bum!

Ignorance is bliss and I'm extremly happy!:3DSMILE:

One- Adam- twelve, we have a thread jacking in progress....

Rick, I was joking about the M.O. jacket, but I did have the "Don Johnson" white sport coat-jacket.

Mark IV 07-15-2003 08:49 PM

SFCJ....

....I bet if I search your house I will find a Members Only jacket........

If you were older I would accuse you of having worn a Nehru jacket.

This thread has been hijacked and is being held for ransom.

Hijacking, it's not just a way, it's an art form

Rick,
If you REALLY want some exposure for the AC cars, enlist the help of the Gasholes and we'll make your marque a household name. You saw what happened when we visited the Kirkhams and Shelby American! Pleae just don't offer us the "hot dogs" and try to barbecue them at the same time!
;)

Lew Ledyard 07-16-2003 08:24 AM

Dan is right. I have always had an interest in Cobras. My Dad had one when I was a kid. However, it wasn't until I discovered this thread and read the enthusiastic praises of the Kirkhams' cars written by the guys on this site, Jamo, TC, U-2, etc, that I decided to bite the bullet and step up to the plate and buy one. I don't mean to say that I was swayed by their opinion, but rather I was caught up in their enthusiasm. The Gasholes definitely were responsible for the sale of at least one car: KMP 233. I think that KMP might owe you guys a commission.

I went to Sears and bought a Searsucker suit. I wore it all the time until I found out Cox's sold an identical version.

the CSX 4000 and 7000 candidate/owner would like this car as he could say it was real if somebody asked.
