Plans to fab a "quick jack"?

Does anyone have any plans or dimensions to fab up a "quick jack" jack?

Did the jacks work well back in the day?

Could the jack be used as a jack stand?

The few pics I've seen looked pretty sweet.

We discussed this on Kris' site last year...
The Quick-Leverage Jacks worked well in the pits; early photos show two guys 'hangin' on them to generate the lift.

From extrapolation of early photos and the specimens at the Shelby museum, Roger B. estimated the length of the "moment arm" to be slightly in excess of six feet. This would mean that you would need approx. 8 feet of open space in front or rear of car to get it up in the air.

On the whole, I'd rather use jack stands. :D

Ron, some of us have always needed a lot of room to get it up.;) Thanks for the jack lesson, maybe this idea should go back in the box.

They do work...if you don't mind bending the aluminum...

The frame is strong enough, but the body does all sorts of weird things if you actually use them.

David:) :) :)

I have a Superformance car, and in the manual they make a point of stating that the quick jacks are for decoration only. They also state that was the case for the cars originally sold to the public. I can only assume that means the race cars had a much stronger connection to the frame for the jacks then the street cars or the one I have. I have no plans to try and lift my car by the jacks to find out.

Iwas told don't try it

Due to the unpopularity of this idea, I deny coming up with the question. T.C. asked me to post the question, yeah, that's the ticket.;)

On my list of things to look at are the quick jacks - and what would be required to make them functional - and would it then be possible to easily retrofit those mods. It's tough and may well prove to be unrealistic .....
