Urgent! PA Inspection Question
Does anyone know if insurance proof is required at the time the MV426 form is filled out by the inspection station? Insurer wants a VIN, but the VIN is provided after the MV426/MV1 is filed.
Thanks Jim Found the answer: No, Ins. not required for MV426 inspection. |
Don't you just love the catch-22s that apparently seem to plague every state's DMV:confused:

Chaplin,
Oh yeah! This is fun! Insurance looks pretty cheap though, at $379/yr. How is the car coming along? Jim |
$379? Wow, that's great. I just sent my check in for $880 and I thought that was pretty good. I guess that's the difference between NJ and PA.
Car is coming along well. Would have started this weekend, but had a couple minor issues which delayed things. This Saturday it should be running. Of course, I won't be able to drive it for 6-8 weeks (that's how long DMV told me it would take to get a title and "safety inspection")  |
Chaplin,
I've got tears too - 4-6 weeks in PA. BTW, one of the PA DMV guys told me in his opinion the replicas were better built than most of the cars on the road. Hope your on the road soon! Lynn wants to make a trip to ERA in it - she misses PEPI. Maybe we'll catch you there. I'm leaving my wallet at home this time. Jim |
My insurance is running $485.00 here in NJ. I even got a further discount by adding my other classics to the policy. Did it thru Condon & Skelly in Mapleshade, NJ. Coverage is thru Met Life.

Jamvan-
I also got mine through Condon & Skelly. I wonder why is mine twice as much as yours:confused: What year is your car titled as? Right now (since I don't actually have a title yet), mine is listed as a 2003. I wonder if that is the difference . . . By the way, anyone know the answer to AntiV's question? (Sorry to hijack this thread on you) |
Thanks chaplin, sorry for the alarm, :o tommorow is 426 day, binder hadn't come through yet and DMV had a recorded message about taking a day to respond. Didn't want to bite off the cost of a rollback for nothing.
DMV did get back within a couple hours, ins. not needed for 426 inspection. jim - how are you enjoying 2017? Damn that's a fine one. C&S wanted $879, flawless DMV record, no accidents for over 20 years (knock on wood). Thanks, Jim |
