These "technical" shows can be a bummer if you're hoping to win an award. Judges for these events who award points for how original a particular car is often frown on replicas. Neighborhood cruise-ins are typically more fun and Cobras almost always place in the top 20. Plus they are held in the evening when it's cooler so they don't require sitting in a parking lot all day. Tomorrow there will be cruise-ins in Athens, Calhoun, Dahlonega, Ellijay, Gainsville, Kennesaw and Loganville. Hey, pick one close to home and drop in. Awarding is based on sex appeal and Cobras are at the top of the list.

I've been to this show a bunch of time over the past 14 years .... and it's based on MCA "modified rules" - meaning judging is based on CLEANINESS and WORKMANSHIP - not concours restoration correctness. I'm going to have something to do and to look at some nice cars. Some of those garage queen owners do go overboard .. but hey, to each their own.

BTW Tony .. where's the cruise in at in K-saw? At the Sonic on Cobb Pwy? Times and such?

Tony Radford 08-01-2003 03:19 PM

It's at the Cobb Place Shopping Center on Barrett Pkwy. Info number is 770 993-8085. No times are given in Ragtops and Running Boards. Try not to add any unnecessary emissions to the atmosphere.

Tony, does this ragtops and running boards have a website. Just what I need however, another site for derelicts like me to increase my car illness %/  :3DSMILE:

svobud 08-01-2003 04:05 PM

TC - I couldn't find a website for them, but the cruise in is listed as such;

1st Saturday Night of Each Month
Cobb Place Shopping Center, Barrett Parkway, Kennesaw
( in the parking lot of Bed, Bath & Beyond )
starting at 5pm

427 S/O 08-01-2003 05:34 PM

We don't enter or look for awards, just pop the hood, walk around and shoot the breeze.

Tony Radford 08-01-2003 07:59 PM

Mike, you have to subscribe. If you like to do shows and cruise-ins, it's a must have publication.

ToyCollector 08-01-2003 08:11 PM

Hard copy then I assume only ? Y or N? If Y, what's your phone # :D That subscription money buys a lot of nuts and bolts ;) .

Tony Radford 08-02-2003 06:20 AM

Mike, nobody with TJO can compain about a $20 annual subscription. You'll pay that much for a small block side emblem!

Cobb Place Shopping Center, Barrett Parkway, Kennesaw - Cruise In

Just got back from it. Pretty cool cruise in. Very laid back. About 100+ cars. 2 other Cobras besides myself .. both Superperformance. Both were very nice cars .. with cool owners.

Other things there .. 3 AMX's lined up beside one another. I'm not a huge fan of them, but it was cool seeing them showing up as I've haven't seen that many in recent years.
