reverse rotation 427
Is it the cam that has to be changed in a marine motor to establish proper rotation? chuck

I have heard the crank is going the wrong direction as well. (The little oiling grooves on the back of the crank will pump oil OUT of a normal motor.)
Also, BEWARE of salt water corrosion. They use fresh water for cooling, but a marine environment is tough on things. That said, I have seen many, many of them bring good service to their owners. David:) :) :) |
Will a reverse rotation motor haul ass backward in 1 st gear?

I think your right about the crank,it is different.the marine blocks are the best 427 {fordmfg}blocks out there, they have very high nickle steel like the c5 and c6 blocks, contrary to the adds I see on ebay, the c8az G service block is just iron like a 390 ,not as strong as a marine, the marine block also has .125 thick cylinderwalls, compared to .080 in most others.it will satand up to more bore, and much higher compression.Tk

You can have a machine shop reverse the knurling on the crank for the oil seal, not expensive.
