Roll Call: Goodwood England Sept 5-7.
Anyone going to be at the Goodwood Revival of Speed this September? Expectation is that 100,000 people will be attending.
See the ultimate grudge race with the Jag E-Types against the Sarillah Cobra. Ford power prevailed last year against the Jags in what was the greatest race of the weekend. |
According to the Goodwood site the organisers are trying to arrange for a King Cobra to participate in the whitsun trophy race. Also in the "The sussex trophy" race Ol Yella is up againgst a Scarab . Im going.

Paul:
Ernie has OY 2 pretty well sorted out. Last year the handling was absolutely horrible. They were still working on the car as it was leaving the Port of Los Angeles. Look for a better performance all the way around this year---probably not at the head of the pack but more competitive than last year. |
Cal. great my son and i can,t wait. Its that time of year where you hear bit & pieces from magazines and the Goodwood website about what car may appear. I read in classic & sportscar magazine that three Cobra Daytonas will be racing.
I expect you,re pretty excited about the Monterey Historics . Just for us in Britain would you be able to post a couple of pictures of the King Cobras there on CC. |
Hey Cal......
Wish I could! I've done Monterey so many times, that I need to dedicate a couple years to Goodwood. Off the subject...is Ernie's Cobra repaired, and participating at the Monterey Historics in 2-weeks? - Bill - |
Bill:
No. The Cobra is not yet fixed. Most of Ernie's time has been getting OY 2 ready for Goodwood. Many of the bugs are out of the car. Look for the Cobra to be fixed by next year. |
Goodwood Revival
I am going over in 2004, long ways off, but curious to know, over the three days which is the best days to see the Cobra's GT40, McLarens etc
Do they have old F1 cars there like a couple of years old? The other half comes from the UK, so I have to go to her birthplace in Ferndown, so I might as well get some classic racing in? |
Sunday is the best day to see the Cobras, GT40s, Lolas, Ol Yella racing. There are cars of all catergories including Saloon cars and Grand Prix cars. I believe all the cars and motorcycles racing are all invite only and constructed between 1948 and 1966, which is when the track was originally in use. Ferndown is only about an hour and ten minutes away from Goodwood.

PDHse,
Sounds good to me, I am not much of a fan of the really old stuff mainly early to mid 60's. I suppose the Festival of Speed is when all the other stuff is there like Le Mans Porsches etc, super fast stuff? |
