Who got the Kirkham?
The Kirkham hybrid sold for $46,301.00. So, who was the lucky bidder? Inquiring minds want to know!

I asked the question immediately after the auction ended and at that time I honestly did not know the answer. Now I do. The Kirkham hybrid was bought by a member of this forum from the Central Florida area and should be completed in time to be shown at the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona Speedway on Thanksgiving weekend.

The suspense is killing me, who is it? :)

To answer all of the questions.
We don't give out names of who buys our cars for privacy reasons. The buyer was very legit and happy to have the car. David:) :) :) |
The winning bidder is attending to some family matters at this time. When they are taken care of, I'm sure that he will come forth and communicate directly with the forum for those of you with questions. Out of respect for his wishes, I can't give any more information other than I can assure everyone that the car will be built with the respect that it is due, to the highest standards.
That's all for now. Stay tuned. Bumpster |
Unlike today's journalists, we respect all of the above.

My math says the "mystery man" will have a minimum of 50K to get the car to roller status. Due to my deep sadness at seeing many of my CC cohearts "left at the alter" on this auction, I will part with my car for the aformentioned sum of 50k.
My car is not for sale, but the "Ghandi" in me causes me to put others before myself. I would go on, but humility forces me to stop. ;) ;) ;) southernfriedlookingoutformyfellowman |
SFCJ - Don't despair! The hybrid was bought by one of your cohearts (cohorts?). I would say the car is at roller status as sold. All it needs is the drivetrain and paint, or the buff and polish finish. It will take a few bucks to get it here from Provo, so your math is pretty close.

Bumpster, a new record! I only had one spelling error in a post!! ;) :D
My math on the roller to get to 50k included needed parts such as the diff, 1/2 shafts, radiator, throttle linkage, and shifter. |
Some of you were interested in who won the bid on the Kirkham hybrid that was auctioned off on Ebay about a week ago. In fact, I asked the question myself because I did not know the identity of the winner based on his Ebay "handle." I found out the next day that it was Al Kamhi, owner of Blue Moon Motorsports in Longwood, Florida, just north of Orlando. I knew that he was going to bid on it but I did not know that he was the winning bidder when the auction ended. I have bought the car from him and he will complete the build of it. The engine will be an aluminum Shelby 427 built by Southern Automotive. The body will be painted Guardsman blue as per the color that the factory cars were, and the body and interior will be finished true to original FIA style.
Al was in the process of building my Hunter FIA Cobra when this opportunity presented itself. That project will be suspended until the Kirkham is completed. The Kirkham will be completed by the end of October and I plan to have it at Gainesville, Florida for the Deep South Cobra Club Reptile Roundup on November 14-16, and at the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona Speedway on Thanksgiving weekend. You dog you. Congrats!!! Seems you, and he, wanted it more than I ;) :3DSMILE:
So who's mr.harley? :D :3DSMILE: |
Thanks, ToyCollector. Owning this car is an incredible opportunity which I could not pass on. It will be finished to the perfection that it deserves, I can assure you. A Kirkham FIA body built on a 427 frame is a dream come true for me. I'm sure there were many people who wanted it as much or more than you or I. I feel very fortunate indeed.

Congrats on the purchase. The car is really cool. I sold one last week and got another order for one today. Seems the hybrids are really taking off.

David, I think another production run of these is what the market calls for. :) :D ;)
