Cobra Replica's
Hi, I was just wondering who are the different producers of cobra replicas. Also how would you rate them? I’m somewhat interested in them and would like to know my options. I’d also appreciate your opinions on them before I jump into anything. Thank you

Uh-Huh...................(here we go again!!)........................

Sorry guys, but I'm just looking for a quick straight list of the places you recommend so I know where to start looking on my own. I heard of some places already and saw one's mentioned here but I don't want to miss anything. I'm not looking to start an arguement between anyone, just need some help to get me started on my own. Thanks again

Also,
www.kirkhammotorsports.com David Dwight, I know there are a lot of manufacturers--thank you for posting what you did. Have a great day! :) :) :) |
vanilla,
Be sure to complete your profile to include your city & state. There might be some owners near you. It may work out that you could see some cars in person and talk directly to owners in your area about their experiences. I did that during my research phase and found the information to be extremely valuable. |
Vanilla - That's a question asked here quite often and the best answer can only be given when your parameters are known, such as budget, desire for authenticity, planned usage of the car, self-build or turnkey, things like that. It really isn't fair to judge any manufacturer until these things are known, as each manufacturer offers their own unique product that may or may not suit you. Give us your list of priorities, and at least you'll get back some opinions that are more meaningful. Otherwise, just use Dwight's list of websites to learn what each manufacturer thinks of their own products. You'll find that they each build the finest Cobra replica on the planet.
Good luck. Bumpster |
DAVID, I DID NOT LEAVE KIRKHAM OFF THE LIST! LOOK BELOW SUPERFORMANCE. MY LIST IS NOT IN ANY SPECIFY ORDER!!!!! I JUST TOOK THEM AS THEY CAME OFF MY FAVORITE LIST. :D :D :D
|
Dwight,
Good list. But how about A&C,Classic, etc. I think it would be good if the real company websites could be listed as well. The ones on Cobra Country are not very complete. Maybe it would be a good idea if there was a complete manufacturer/builder link area here at Club Cobra. As we all know there are many folks who come here and ask the same question as vanillagorilla just did. Ok, I know that someone out there has a complete listing just sitting in their favorites folder that they could share with the rest of us. |

Our own DV must be considered!

Believe it or not, there is a UK kitcar website with a reasonably comprehensive list of US manufacturers. Go to www.totalkitcar.com and then look for the "USA" section.
HTH |
Wilf,
He might be outside the US. I saw my first DAX cobra (UK) the other day. |
|
Our friend here is from New York
|
Dave - just how did you come across a Dax? They are one of the more numerous UK replicas.
Dax just brought out a new version, using a De Dion rear end (thus enabling us to use the XJ40 diff etc), and their patented "zero camber change" front suspension. We do have to get away from the old Jagwaar rear ends here -they are becoming difficult to find and recondition. |
Wilf,
One of the guys at the Austin, Tx February cruise was in a DAX. It was powered by a Chebbie sb. Nice guy I think he brought it over from Germany while he was interning with a telecommunications company here in the US. Not a bad looking car except the hood scoop was a little tall for me...oh yea and there was that Chebbie thing he had going. Clois |
Wilf & Clois,
Same guy, a nice German chap named Tommi something. He bought the car in Germany, then brought it over with him. He showed up at our last Dallas TCC dessert run with both side pipes torn off (damn railroad tracks!), just open exhaust. Course, even with open pipes, how good can a chebbie sound? hehe... His girlfriend is a SCCA corner worker and flagged our cobra open run day at TMS. |
