Poor man's auto lift
I don't have alot of head room to install a real lift in my garage. Does anyone have any experience with Autolifter's tiltlift which is about $1000? Seems pretty fool proof and can be seen at www.autolifters.com. I first saw it in Hemmings last month and if it works OK maybe the answer for my situation.

At the shop I worked at, we had one just like it......I highly recommend it if you have the room for it.................

Alex, take a look at the Stinger lifts. They are made to fit in a standard garage and plug into an outlet. They also have castors so you can move them outside for underside washing. They are a bit more expensive.

Turk has one that you jack up in the rear, and then the legs drop--is that the Kwik Lift?
In any event, they do work. |
I think Turk has the Kwik Lift. I have had one since they first started making them and Casaleenie has one now. I really like mine and it is very easy to remove if I want to. Just lower the ramps and drive off and on and then jack it up and let the legs down.

Tony This is portable too though heavy It acts like a teeter tawter (sp?) you go up and when you cross the center line it swings forward to level on front legs and rear legs then fold down. There is no jacking up or down or leaving a car on the slanted ramp. As SPF owners know the parking brake is useless Again thanks for the input |

A question. I looked at the brochures on that type you have and couldn't find out a couple of things. One is how strong are the center legs that take all the weight and movement ? Two, can you adjust the width and length ? I went with the kwick Lift because I just didn't know back then about what this type was like. I really like my kwick lift as I can adjust it for my other cars very easily. The jacking is the only work to it, but I have wondered about your type. If it is adjustable and will stand up to heavy cars then it would be a little less work. As for parking brakes, mine holds just fine with the ramp down and the engine running. I just have to be careful that the darn thing doesn't shake itself off the ramp as mine has quite a lopy idle. Thanks Ron **) |
