$$ Go fast on reg gas; it's $2.33/gal !

Hi,
I have a mild 460 Ford ,9.0:1, balanced, 20 over, comp cam,etc.
I built it to run on regular gas as regular is $0.84 a liter = $2.33 for a U.S. gallon and I drive the cobra alot. I get 10 to 13 miles to the U.S. gallon with the dual carbs depending on the lead foot.

So the question is;

Anybody out there running faster than 12.06 ET on street tires and regular gas ?

Perry.

Accourding to time zone charts, if you run 12.06 PDT.MT or ET, the difference is negligible.

Anyway you look at it, 12.06 ain't bad.

Hwy 1

Perry,

I think you and Bish were doing 12's up there on Hwy 1........ at least for me in the back of the pack trying to keep up with you it seemed like it!

Man those Canadians like to hall A$$ up there on that Highway! I know I did not get under 70 mph and hit 95 mph at times keeping pace! :3DSMILE:

Mike :)

hah, now to try to start some small block envy, i run a stroked Windsor, street tires, best of 12.0 @ 119 mph, and i can pull 20-23 mpg on a cruise!!!

No gas hog for me!! Just lithe, fast, and nimble, like when was a young man.

Hi Mike,
I think Bish is confused that 90 KPH is 90 MPH..:D

Hal,
That's real good too, I don't have overdrive so I pull higher RPM's on the HWY.

You should all just think yourselves lucky not to have 80% tax on your fuel like we have here! 1 litre of regular unleaded is £0.78, so that`s like $1.50? Roughly $3.30 for a US Gallon or $6.81 for an Imperial Gallon!(not EVERYTHING is bigger over there!!!):D

Sorry, I have to make a correction to the post above. Since there are 3.8L to one US Gal, the UK equivalent would be $5.57/US Gal. I'm a "Colonial" living in Britian, so I'm quite sensitive to this every time I pull into the Shell station. This expat assignment certainly has been an infusion of "culture".

OOOPS.Sorry! I just divided the figures in the first post.....serves me right for not doing the math!
So $0.84(1ltr) x 3.8 = $3.19 (gallon)?
or $2.33(gallon) / 3.8 = $0.62 (ltr)?
Now I`ve confused myself!
I was wondering how the hell you`d do 10-13mpg on such a 'small' gallon!

HighPlainsDrifter 02-17-2004 12:55 PM

Confusing?

Well when you fudge the Canadian dollar exchange to the smaller U.S. gallon it is math 101 and it's been a long time outta school.

$.81 a liter / canadian = $ 3.67 per canadian gallon

now going to U.S. dollars = $ 2.75 per canadian gallon

now go to smaller U.S. gallons = $ 2.29 U.S. per U. S. gallon

Lousy since I can go 5 miles across the border and get U.S. gas for $1.66 a gallon , so I'm losing $.63 a gallon in canada.

No matter, it still costs me a bunch, not as much as if I had to run premium fuel though.

Perry.

oil deposit

Frustrating!! knowing that Canada has a large oil deposit in Alberta and we still pay through the nose for the stuff from the middle east! Just think, if we started using our own oil!
