The Butcher Returns to North America for One Show Only
Tickets SOLD OUT! The Bucher and the CobraLads Reunite for one show only at the Westech Pavillion and Dyno. Who could forget I Stripped the Socket Cap Rainy Days and Expanding Foam Always Get Me Down If I had a Big Hammer I Might Like You Better If We Epoxy Together The Butcher, lead signer for the CobraLads, had retired to his dark damp hermit cave in parts unknown. His fans called for a return of the master of detructive part testing. The Butcher disappeared long ago and was not about to tour anytime soon. The phone rang. Normally the Butcher would not answer the phone since email and IMs were so much more efficient. For some unknown reason, he answered this crude device. It was a call from his lead guitarist "Little Buddy" Miller Butcher "Hello" Little Buddy "How are you?" Butcher "Gellin like a felon" Little Buddy "we are going to take that engine to the dyno" Butcher "No we are not" Little Buddy "why not?" Butcher "I'm tired" Little Buddy "you're not tired" Butcher "I'm busy" Little Buddy "you're not busy" Butcher "I'm broke" Little Buddy "you're not broke" Little Buddy was well versed in logic and critical thinking and used his powers of persuasion to oust the Butcher from his cave. The date was set and the CobraLads would go on tour, one day only, LIVE at the Westech Engine Dyno. The day arrived. The lads hopped in the truck and headed down the hill to meet up with the black ninja dyno masters, John and Steve. Outside the dyno shop, a horde of angry waxers was quickly forming. They held signs proudly above their head and chanting "voodoo and wife's tails!...voodoo and wife's tails!" The Butcher had always angered the waxers with his early fact documented posts to the forums. Fortunately a crowd of engineers and racers was also forming. They protested the waxers. They chanted back "Science, Logic and Research!...Science,Logic and Research!" The truth would be found soon enough. The engine was taken into the Polygraph Room. The Butcher was his usual nervous goofy self. Little Buddy was calm cool and collected. Soon the testing began. Steve asked "what are you hoping for?" The Butcher replied "I think we should come in around the 550HP range, but we might get lucky and taste 600." For a first time engine builder, the 400HP Ford Crate is a fine target. Perhaps on your second engine you might shoot for the rare 500HP small block. If you sniff too much urethane, you then might try for the elusive and rare, 600HP pump gas small block. The Butcher was always compelled to go big. Steve handed the lads some ear muffs and said "watch for leaks". On the first engine crank a backfire instantly occured. Steve came into the room and quickly checked fire order and wires. Steve the wise dyno master said "ah ha! I think its 180 off." Within seconds the problem was corrected. Steve returned to the booth and the lads awaited. VROOOOOOM! The engine roared to life. The Butcher and The Little Buddy had never ever ever seen an engine start so fast. The lads just about pee'd their frilly white panties when they heard the TNT383 come to life. Some say they heard the Butcher mumble "I want my mommy". Many low level idle tests were completely. Little Buddy said "this is a damn super stocker engine!". The Butcher said "what on earth was I thinking!" The lads were terrified by the raspy racer engine sound. The waxers heard the noise and scattered like flies. The engineers and racers cheered. It was time for the big tests. The lads were brought into the booth with Steve were he worked his magic. It was time for the first Full Pull. The TNT383 sounded incredible. The lads held each other for safety. Steve was calm as a cucumber. The first full pull scored a 530HP @ 6200 and became the baseline. Steve then began to work his magic over the next 3 hours. The 383 TNT did not care at all about timing. 32 degrees made no difference over 36. No gains we felt. The Butcher had used Corn Syrup 20W 50 Valvoline Race Oil and they elected to try 10w30. Not a single HP gain. By the way, if you want lots of oil pressure, pour in some 20w 50 Valvoline race. :) Next began jetting and air bleeds. HP was being found. More and more and more HP was being discovered. Ack! Two header bolts fell on the floor. They were loose and one header now had one burnt ass port gasket. The testing continued long into the day. 535, 540, 545, 550, 555, 560, 665, 569, 571!!!! Unoficially, Steve and the CobraLads scored a 571HP. The test was somehow lost in the shuffle, but several 569HP tests were archived. The results were in the books. The Butcher's 383 TNT was a waxer's worst nightmare. Science and research had once again triumphed over wife's tails and car show voodoo. The removed the fast flowing air bell and installed a tiny 11"x2" K&N filter with silver top. The Butcher uses a 2"x11" since that is all he could fit under the hood. All three boys were sure this would suck all the HP from the engine. Shock of Shock, only 7 HP lost. The lads then installed the Xtreme lid on the 11"x2" filter. 569 HP!!!! Oh My! The crowd cheered. At most, 2HP lost, but the curve actually smoothed out on the top side. If you are short of space, you can run small KN filters and not loose HP. The proof is in the polygraph room. The cobralads were shocked and amazed. Ahhh... it's a great day when the Butcher can post good news relating to his car - especially after spending a day at an engine dyno no less!!!!! :3DSMILE:
Welcome back, and I'm glad to see that the Engineers and Racers prevailed on the day. Now put that motor in!!!!! :D |
Why it was no more than just the other day someone was asking AGAIN,,,,,,,"Wheres the Butcher?"
Tis a good thing to see your out and about and pursuing top notch research. Excellent post! Ernie |
Ahhh, finally!
I knew "he" would pop out of his closet once the Fling was over :) DV..Nice to have you back fella! |
The Butcher with a good luck story? Imposter! What have you done with Andy? Is he tied up? Druged? High on octane booster?
Ok so we know you have him. what are your demands? I bet between the members of ClubCobra and that Factory Five Forum we can scrape up at least $187.62. The Gasholes should be good for $11.78 and I think Andy has actual family so we might get enout ransom for say a nice Holley Street Avenger. Return him unharmed and we will not press charges. We just want more "Butcher" stories. This good news stuff belongs on PBS not a Cobra Forum. :) |
Hi Andy,
What a nice read for my recuperation (see my message yesterday with the word WARNING in the title). 'bout laughed myself off the chair!  **) Now, let's roll, er, forward of course! And buy some arm restraints :D When do we see you at the track? Best, Tom |
Welcome back Andy!
I'm always both amused and educated with your tales!
Now go put that motor in! OHEKK! |
|
Andy - a rousing "Welcome back" from your English fan base.
Glad that 383 ran strong on the dyno. :) Stunned that it was still in one piece afterwards. :3DSMILE: |
