Who knows what really goes on behind closed doors in this industry, but. If the K bros, swung a deal with the Old Grouch, Give him a super deal on 50 or so of them AL skins, shipped 'em to South Africa,Delete the 'glass body and paint, substitute the AL. Man -O Man , the Old man could get his wish, put ALL the counterfitters outta bizz. (ps, don't be supprized if SPF don't have an aluminium car in the works)

From what I know "it not a simple swap". You can't buy a glass CSX and urgrade it to a Aluminium for instance. Yes a frame is a frame but that's where it ends. If Shelby wanted to the could build the alum. cars in S.A. but it would be a bit more wk. pls. step in and correct me if I'm wrong.

The labor rates in SA are probably1/6 of what they are in the US, so there is one advantage. if the CAV car is a clone of the 60s Cobra(same frame , dimentions, etc), it ain't gonna be that difficult. The K Bros body comes finished pretty well(although it's hard to tell from pictures), and has the birdcage hemmed into the openings already. Don't put the birdcage, supports for the 'glass body on the frame, weld the K bros. stuff on. 1 slipjoint under the doors to weld and finish. Sell 'em bare, without paint. hit that $45K number, kill everybody else.Former AL CSX buyers be dammed( former 'glass CSX buyer are dammed already, rite?)

All I know is, if sweet ol' Shel flooded the market with 50-60K aluminum CSX's, I might be a tad miffed if I had 130k+ in one of his 'continuation' 4000's.
Talk about diluting (and polluting) the registry.

SPF is working on an aluminum body for their MK3-it's mentioned in their latest brochure.

Wow, auction ended, no bids. Price listed was $8900, so gotta guess that was the bottom line. What's the mfg's suggested retail price on one of them bodys?, think the dude paid around $12k when it was bought new.
